[ if i should die within this hour ]
Standing in that same poud position, Double had kept his eyes locked upon his leader attentively, listening to the words she said - but his ears twitched, only rightfully, as he listened to the chatter about him. The stories to youngsters told.. they were too mature and too harrowing for such a young mind to deal with! Anger struck an arrow into the heart of the brave Warrior and he hissed quietly, looking to the ground and unsheathing his claws. He was ready.
He looked around at his Clan mates - if he could even call them as much - and wondered faintly how many would be wounded, if any ould be killed. Double vowed then, that he would ensure the protection of as many as his Clan members as possible; should any need assistance, he would be there to push back their attacker. His heartbeat was growing ever quicker, as the heat of the moment enraptured him. His tail and whiskers twitched with only the slightest sign of impatience, as he waited, waited for the moment when this.. Bone Clan would recieve their comeuppance.
When the large shecat spoke of leading a war, Doubleheart turned, to look back at her strangely with his mismatched eyes. He had noticed her a little while ago, sat beside her on the day that he had recieved his apprentice, but he did not know who she was (was it Battledream, perhaps?), and she seemed vaguely interesting to his eager mind. Had she once led a Clan of her own? From the way she spoke, it seemed perhaps she had. But Double knew his limits, and as he realised that staring was rude, he smiled faintly at the she cat and inclined his head to her, before returning his gaze to Lillystar, awaiting further orders.

Yes! Now was his time to show what his life was worth. "Now father!" he said, looking up into the skies, "I shall show you what good your training has done!" The tom laughed evily, then heard words Umberpaw spoke.
"Your mother," he said, "I think... I think she ate my father, if she is the well known cannibal cat you speak of..." Giddypaw had rather not told Umberpaw about his dream. Streamkit knew, and he wasn't even sure if he had told Ripplepaw, but he rather not have...

[There’s a novel’s worth of a story there behind Battledream and Warfox’s past. ^^ I’lll divulge it later, if you all would like to hear it.] Umberpaw looked at the ground, shamed at hearing Giddypaw’s words.
“I’m sorry. Even if she never is for her actions…I’m so sorry.”
The small she-cat, much out of her kithood and soon to join the ranks of adulthood, leveled her golden gaze upon the other apprentice. Heartless had placed her daughter in and through so much pain – it was truly remarkable she had survived and held on for so long now.

Giddypaw patted Umberpaw's back with a paw. "It's ok," he mewed, "I won't judge you because of what your mother did to my father. You are a loyal and trustworthy friend of mine, and don't you forget it. I'll be here when you need help and I know Ripplepaw will be too..." The young tom smiled at the Medicine Cat Apprentice. What he said was true. She was loyal and trustworthy, and she definetley deserved the position she was in.

"Lilystar, I can help carry the herb for the wounded cats in the battle."Suggested Ringkit."then the apprentices can fight.Instead of them carrying the herbs."She smiled at the thought of her bringing the herbs and saving all the cats.No cat would be left out.

((Yes, it would be nice to hear that whole long story between Warfox and Battledream. I'd even forgotten the bit of it that I know. BAD ME. That is not something I should be forgetting, methinks.))

(OoC: :C ... Sorry about that prolonged absence. I shall try to keep up with the plot next time. I especially apologize to Ripple.)
Trillium raised her head to her leader in acceptance of the call to battle. To have revenge upon the clan that had kidnapped herself and Honeymist...would be rather delightful. Her head jerked up once again at Lilystar's announcement that the older apprentices could join the battle.
Trill's eyes glowed as she looked toward Ripplepaw, smiling. The little one would enjoy this experience, especially next to Giddykit.

Lillystar felt incredibly weary. The short nap she'd gotten outside her den a few days before, was really the only rest she'd had in ages. Barely able to keep her eyes open, she forced herself to speak one more time.
"Everyone should gather fresh kill and make sure the pile is stocked well..." "I have no idea when Kestrel will call upon us to join her...and we need to be prepared for anything." "Also, Ringkit, you may help Umberpaw and Silverthroat collect healing herbs, but you are not allowed to go into battle." "Everyone should eat and rest, I want you all fresh for the batt..."
Then their leader fell over, slipping to the edge of the rock. Thankfully she managed to not fall off completely. She lay in a near faint, exhaustion having finally taken its hold. Shadowstreak watched her leader fall, barely able to contain a yowl of fear. Thankfully she did not fall "off," but to the side. Regardless it worried her greatly. She leapt to her paws and called out, "Lillystar!"

Dodgepaw gave his parents an odd look – as they exited the leader’s den and his father led his mother to the warrior’s den to settle her to rest. He had listened patiently to the leader’s words – a bit stung that he couldn’t go to battle with the other apprentices, or even the small Ringkit.
But her words bothered the young tom even more. What did his parents have to tell him? He wasn’t as stupid as some may like to think him as – he knew there was something they were hiding…but what? He couldn’t say.

((And I return to this thread *pant*))
As soon as it was announced that the older apprentices could go to battle, Andromeda switched from her just left worry about her own health to the health of the apprentices. Then she calmed down a bit, because surely Lillystar would not let them risk their lives if she thought them incapable of holding their own. The white she-cat was just pondering this when Lillystar spoke up again.
Andromeda stood as her leader started speaking, thinking she didn't look- or sound- very good. When she was living with the old lady, Andromeda had seen her faint once or twice- the way Kestrel looked kind of reminded her of this. A moment later, Andromeda leapt forward- close on the heels of Ringkit and Shadowstreak- as her leader keeled over and nearly fell off the rock. She glanced worriedly at Shadowstreak.
"Which one's the medicine cat, and do you need me to find him or her, or are they here, or is she just really worn out and we should just get her indoors and let her be?" she asked calmly, voice concerned but absolutely calm and level headed. No need to panic, she thought, as that would just complicate anything and everything. Not to mention it'd probably send everyone into a state. And with this many cats around, she hated to think of everyone getting sent into a state.

Shadowstreak looked to the cat that had bounded up beside her. This was Andromeda, if she remembered correctly.
"I'm not sure...Silverthroat is the medicine cat, but I haven't seen her around for ages!" she said, sounding a little frantic. "Go fetch Umberpaw and tell her that Lillystar seems to have fainted!"

Umberpaw had been about ready to respond to Giddypaw – when the small black cat saw her leader almost fall. Her attention immediately shifted, gaze upon Lillystar.
Then she was off, a small black streak, into the medicine cat den. It was a mere moment later, when she returned with a poppy pod, which she held carefully as she bounded over to Lillystar. The poor leader looked dead exhausted, but she still appeared to be conscious. At least, Umberpaw hoped so.
Dipping her head respectfully, she shook the pod until one seed dropped out. She then set the pod down to speak.
“Please Lillystar, eat this poppy seed. It’ll help you rest – and I’ll assist you back to your den.”
That would be a difficult task – the she-cat was much larger that she would ever be. But she would still try.

Lillystar opened her eyes enough to take in her surroundings. She couldn't stand just yet and her legs ached as if she were feebly old. Nudging the seed closer to her with a stiff paw, she licked it up and chewed. Pleasant sensations filled her mouth and she felt much calmer.
"I'm not so sure I can get up yet..." she muttered to Umberpaw. Shadowstreak looked on, worried that her leader was pushing herself way too hard. She'd welcomed so many into the clan, but what toll was it taking on her?

Andromeda flashed the quickest of reassuring smiles at Shadowstreak. She was about to go find Umberpaw when the little cat raced over. Andromeda was impressed at how fast the apprentice was. And she really didn't want to insult her by implying that she was too small to help Lillystar back to her den, especially since Andromeda hardly knew her. So she didn't say anything, just stayed where she was, next to Shadowstreak, there to help if she was needed, but out of the way if she wasn't.

“That’s okay.”
Umberpaw smiled at Lillystar – her bright yellow hues seeming far far older and more mature than she should ever be.
“I’ll help you.”
The black she-cat moved, coming close to the leader. Lightly she nudged, and wiggled, until one foreleg was over her shoulder. She then lifted up, with all her strength – her small form a support so that Lillystar could rest her weight on.
In short, Lillystar had a furry cane.
A muffled squeak escaped Umberpaw’s mouth – yes, the leader was very heavy and, not only that, although her wounds had healed she still felt the occasional pain from them. This burden pained them, but that pain never seized hold.
She would not give in.
“Here we go.”

Shadowstreak didn't want to ruin the medicine cat apprentice's moment to shine, but she felt terrible just leaving her to drag the leader. So she leaned over and helped balance out the weight, supporting their leader to her den, dug into the great rock. Lillystar barely stirred the whole time and simply blinked gratefully at them. When they finally reached her den, she smiled as best she could and said, "Thank you both..." Then she added, "Umberpaw...you will make a fine medicine cat one day..." Heaving herself to her paws, she trudged through the opening and then collapsed into her bed.
