Jadekit rolled over on her back rather nimbly, batting a whisp around absently as she answered, I think it's a bit like the last two you said, Brighteye. They get together and talk 'bout the issues or whatever's good with their clan...that is if they wanna share it. Not too good spoutin yer weaknesses to rivals. Yeah. But they're all there together, and sworn to an oath of peace or summat of the sort, and if they go 'round being cranky-pants or startin fights, StarClan gets angry. And if the moon gets completely covered by clouds, StarClan's furious and dismisses everyone...... Her eyes gazed off into a far-off place, no longer in the StoneClan camp, but to some place far away, a long time ago. The whisp fell onto her belly, but she payed it no mind, speaking again after a few moments, her eyes still gone-away. Momma told me all 'bout these here Clans...tha's how I knows it....

"Did your mother ever belong to StoneClan, Jadekit?" Rainheart asked. She seemed lost in her own little world most of the time.

Jadekit rolled over and lay there on her belly for a moment before answering. No. She...she told me that she had grown up in a far off place, in a place where there was only her old clan. But she said they were cruel and filthy. Ate crowfood. And they were gradually dyin' out, goin' mad. She didn't want to bring up a kit in those conditions, so she left. She traveled far and became a rogue, still pregnant, as she studied the clans and their ways. A tiny smile curved on Jadekit's features at her memories and continued, She brought me up and taught me all I know...We lived comfortabley on the outskirts of Rogue Meadow and Stoneclan...until the accident..... Her voice got quiet, until the last part of her sentence trailed off into silence.

Sapho looked around at the cats as they spoke. Until the accident, Sapho thought in alarm. He struggled to reply calmly.
"In my old tribe we used to meet at this great big mesa that rose up out of the earth." Sapho paused, "Until the twolegs came and wiped out my whole entire tribe for our fur. They left only me and my sister alive. We traveled together for about a month and then one night a fox killed her while she was hunting. Dumb foxes think they can pick on us just 'cause we're small. And I now have no blood related family that I know of."
Sapho slowly bowed his head as memories flooded his mind. After a few moments he looked at Jadekit, exactly eye level with the younger cat.
"What happened to you?" Sapho asked softly, not wanting to scare the kit of he memories whatever they were.

Jadekit knew of Sapho's pain, she held sympathy in her bright kit eyes. Momma went to hunt....She said she was going to a farm not too far away. I was safe in the briars we used as a home...but later, I heard a sound louder than thunder...off in the distance. It came three times. I didn't know what it was, but it frightened me, so I stayed put. Dark came and Momma hadn't come back. I went looking. I smelled something rank...discusting. Blood. She had dragged herself into a gully, barely alive. Tears welled in Jadekit's eyes, but she refused to let them fall, a weak smile on her face, remembering what happened next. She had brought a small chicken. She told me a farmer shot her, I had no clue what a farmer was, but he only shot her once out of the three loud noises. She had dragged herself that whole way so that I had food in my belly......Momma said she was gonna go away. Gonna join the stars. Up in Silverpelt, gonna watch over me, make sure the clan cats learned me right. She grinned and a tiny chuckled escaped her throat. She told me to take the fresh-kill and leave her. But I stayed. I stayed in that ditch with her, cryin till her fur was sodden, and slept. By the time dawn came, she was cold. She had joined the stars. I didn't leave 'er for more'n a day, but when the food was gone and I was hungry and 'lone, I left. Covered her in leaves n' flowers. I wandered the woods fer 'bout a moon, learnin what I could. I sang to keep m'self comp'ny and talked to the stars a'for I went to sleep, makin sure Momma knew I was doin' alright. Featherstar found me not more'n a moon ago, n' here I am.Jadekit sniffed and shook her head, getting rid of the tears...she had waited so long to tell another cat her story. And she had done it.

Oh Brightyeye said softly. She wrapped a comforting tail around the young kit's shoulders. I too lost my mother when I was young, to a dog. Twolegs are fickle creatures. I think they set the dog on us because we were stealing from their trash, but they kept me because they thought I was cute. I was never content there, so I left.

Jadekit was comforted by the older she-cat's gesture, I think dogs 're fickle too. Always chasin' after us. What makes 'em do it? Is it like a cat chasin a rabbit or squirrel? Are a buncha rabbits sittin 'round 'n askin the same questions I am? Her attittude had changed slightly from the moment before, her voice bright, not wanting to make everyone sad with her story.

A cold wind blew through Sapho's spotted fur as if to wipe away the past. His heart rose, This kit knows how to cheer someone up., he thought.
"I think dogs just do it for fun, not to hunt."He mewed "But I'll bet there is a bunch of rabbits that have asked the the same questions."

Certainly something to think about Brighteye was impressed by the young kit's brave face. She fondly nuzzled the oddly shaped rock Maybe we should ask our rock rabbit?

"I knew a dog once. He belonged to another magician. He was really nice. When I was just a kit, and our two masters would go off and leave us to fend for ourselves in the general area, he'd beg food off some humans and bring it back for me," Spellbound said. But then again, his past had been strange. How many cats escape a watery death every night for years? Not many.
"Perhaps we should. Unfortunately, I don't speak rabbit," Spellbound said, putting on an air of disappointment. In addition to being good at magic tricks, he had learned a good deal of acting. Yes, magic was only half the trick. The other half- that was all acting.

I suppose dogs are different just like cats Brighteye said thoughtfully. She lightened. But maybe we don't have to speak rabbit to talk to the rock. Maybe it speaks cat.

"Hmmmm. This is possible. Perhaps someone should ask it?" Spellbound said, stepping near the rock and reaching out to sniff at it. It smelled like a rock, which was entirely predictable. He flicked his ears forward and then sat back on his haunches, looking back at the others.
"It smells like a rock," he informed them.

A reasonable conclusion Brighteye said mock-thoughtfully. She leaned forward and enquired Do you happen to speak cat, dear sir?

Rainheart stepped up and observed the strange "rabbit-rock". She actually seemed to "read"it. Or perhaps she was going mad. "I think I can understand it! Hmmm. Seems to be saying.... it likes.... us! Pretty strange though. Maybe it's just my wild imagination" Rainheart said with mild curiosity. Something had brought these cats together. She felt as if she belonged for once.

“Of course I adore all of you!”
A kind voice sang out from the rock rather suddenly. After a span of a few moments, a calico form leaped out from behind with a warm, kind-hearted laugh.
“Hello everyone. Enjoying life in Stoneclan?”
The blind female flicked her ears, looking around the area, her gaze never settling exactly on any of the cats that were gathered.
Blindsong was taking a short break from her kits. Leaving the three in the nursery close by curled up asleep. Of course, the she-cat wouldn’t be gone from them for very long, but she did have some time to move, stretching her legs for once in quite a while.

Jadekit flicked her ears in the direction of the queen, her head following a moment later. Her eyes lit up in excitement, an overwhelming scent of a mother washed over her. Jadekit held no restraint as she bolted towards the calico, rubbing against her fur, her rumbling purs so loud that even if she had said anything, no cat would be able to hear her. She smelled so much like Momma used to, so kind and gentle was her voice....

“My name? Well, kind stranger, it is Blindsong to all.”
The calico’s ears never stopped moving, pinpointing the general location of the cat who had spoken.
“As for my story? By that, if I may ask, what do you mean? I am merely a Stoneclan warrior, currently stepped down from my post to care for my little ones.”
Her tail flicked back at the nursery, where the three young ones slept soundly.
However, the blind fae was certainly startled as the owner of a bright, energetic scent can running over, rubbing against her. The scent was young, so very young….a kit like her own. Motherly instincts flooded the queen, and her own warm purr joined Jadekit’s.
“Hello hello little one.”
Moving her head, she licked the kit’s head a few times warmly.

Jadekit's purring never ceased as she looked up at Blindsong, her bright kit eyes wide. She managed a tiny 'Hello' muffled between purrs. It seemed to her that she had gone so long without seeing a mother, that warm nurturing scent. She gave Blindsong a look that, even though the queen could not see it, asking if she could maybe call her Mother. Of course Jadekit would never be able to replace her Momma...but she swore that she heard her Momma's gentle voice telling her it was ok. Talking to her from StarClan.
ooc// Poor little dear. She's like that tiny bird in the Dr.Suess 'Are You My Mama' book. ;-;
