At one point in time Broken did have family. His parents, Nicky and Patio, lived with his uncle, aunt and cousins. When Broken turned 3 moons and Amberkit 1 moon, a gigantic storm swept over the valley, starting a flood. His parents picked him and his cousins up and stuck them on a high ledge to keep them away from the angry waters. His parents and aunt and uncle started scrabbling for foot-holds in the slate when the waves suddenly rose up and washed them away. Later they went to look for their own parents. The water's trail split around a tree, so they went to look for their parents on their own. Bad idea. Eventually the forest was so impenetrable that it was impossible to find their way back. He was alone. His parents, probably dead. And his cousins and aunt and uncle probably will be without somebody to help with the hunting and such. He left. Excepting life and all the stones it threw at him. He's gotten good at dodging them now.....
