Sage eyes flicked from the dark of the Nursery, taking in the surroundings of all the cats in camp. They softened in delight as a black tom with rusty highlights padded out, stretching his legs. The worrisome tom had hardly lefted the Nursery since Umberwings gave birth, and it felt good to get some fresh air.
But excersize wasn't the only reason Rustshade had strode into camp with a smile on his face; he was showing his kits the camp for the first time [First time, of course, that they were allowed; Troublekit and Darekit were a hard pair to keep contained]. He turned to look over his shaggy and scarred shoulder to smile warmly. Well come on then! He mewed cheerfully, and a small black tom with rusty stripes along his legs bolted out, small legs carrying him as fast as he could go. Dad! Dad! Can we go out past the waterfall? Pleeeeeeease? He shouted, ignoring the rest of the scenery to run past his father and stop at the edge of the waterfall, the noise deafening him into sheer delight.
Rustshade chuckled. Let's see the camp first, then we'll see He murmured patiently, so quietly that Darekit didn't hear him. He turned to look back at the nursery, anxious to see if his other kits would follow, as well as Umberwings. [/sub]

Unlike his more exuberant sibling, the little tabby tom did not have even the slightest interest in being very close to the waterfall. He was interested in staying by his father, or his mother, whichever happened to be closest.
So he was understandably torn when his dad called him and the others out from the den with their mom to go exploring the camp. Still, he didn't want anyone to think him a complete coward, and he had determined at some point that he would have to go outside- he couldn't just stay in the den forever, and there was probably lots of trouble to get into outside with the others.
Still, he glanced both ways when he left the den, as if something would jump out at him from nowhere. When nothing showed itself, he flicked his tail and trotted over to his dad, giving Darekit a look that implied he thought the other might be a little crazy in the head.
"If we go past the waterfall, won't we get wet?" he asked his father innocently.

“Outside!” A ragged looking head popped out of the nursery, where the kits had been moved not long after their birth in the medicine cat’s den. Ignoring her mother’s exasperated mew to get back in there and allow her to finish grooming her, the vibrantly gold-splotched kit leaped from the den and loped over to her father and brothers, smiling widely.
Muahah, escape! She hadn’t heard everything that had been uttered, but her ears twitched and she looked at timid Shykit when he asked his question – sneaking over towards the waterfall and leaning out, one paw reached out to bat those crystalline droplets. “I like water, it’ll be fun!” Troublekit turned then, flicking the water from her paw and prowled over to her family, looking up at Rustshade with wide golden-yellow eyes.
“Daad, whatcha going to show us first? Will it be awesome? It better be awesome, hehe~” She glanced back over towards the den as Umberwings padded out and stretched gloriously – the tiny medicine cat had been running herself ragged since they were born. She had taken it upon herself completely to continue being medicine cat for the entire clan, even when raising her young ones, caring for and treating those who needed [which, more often then not, it was the masochistic Murderpaw she had to treat – from his own self-inflicted injuries to those that scary goliath Battledream inflicted on him during their training sessions]. Troublekit flicked her tail contemplatively when she saw her mother glance back into the den…that would be for little Musekit.
If he didn’t find the strength, he wouldn’t be joining them on this little adventure…and mom wouldn’t be either. Drag! Troublekit looked away, between her two brothers and her father. Then, with a mischievous glitter flashing in her eyes, she leaped forward in an attempt to pounce playfully on Darekit – Shykit was too easy a target; she wanted a challenge!

Out of the corner of his eye, Musekit could see his siblings take their first steps outside of the nursery walls, the only place they'd known since they'd been born, and even begin playing without him. He was more than well enough to join them, for once, and he could feel his paws itching to do so, but not just yet. He was somewhat... busy.
To anyone who was watching him, the small tom would have looked as if he was simply staring into thin air, but that wasn't the case. The kit's odd-eyed gaze was simply fixed on something only he could see, his ears betraying his mixed feelings of fear and curiosity as they twitched indecisively. What was that wisp of movement, that small pale figure that followed his mother out? Musekit gazed after it, narrowing his eyes in an attempt to see it better, but it didn't make a difference. Rrrgh. Shaking his head, he heaved a sigh of defeat, and with that he padded out of the nursery, after his family and into the camp.
And whoa, what an awesome camp they had! Musekit took in the steep cave walls, the ceiling far above their heads and the roaring waterfall by the entrance wordlessly, his eyes wide as he gazed around him. While Troublekit and Darekit had snuck out more than a few times before, he never had felt well enough to tag along, but now, he could finally see it for himself.
He was more than a bit overwhelmed by all the sights and sounds of their cave, but the moment of awe was over and he was conscious of how un-Musekit-y he was acting. Twitching his whiskers in amusement at himself, Musekit regained some of his composure and his serious demeanor and trotted briskly over to his father and the others, his tail waving impatiently.
"What are we waiting for?" he asked bluntly, his head tilted up to look at his father. "Let's go!"

Ah, there he was.
The small medicine cat followed her children over to her mate and other sons at a more sedate pace – they, her and Rustshade, might still be considered young but she for one wasn’t as prone to the hyper flashes of youth. Umberwings took an relaxed glance around camp, trying to see who may be out and about – even though the kits had met many by visits, there were still some that they hadn’t met before. She could see Murderpaw skulking about the warrior’s den, finally cursing loudly and limping, favoring his right hind leg a bit where he had taken a heavy blow from Battledream during training, away into the apprentices den. She, for one, didn’t know what to do with the murderous tom, and sighing, the she-cat shook her head and returned her attention to her family.
“I believe Musekit has spoken for us all, hasn’t he?” Smiling towards her mate, she attempted to adopt the expression of an eager to explore kit, looking towards their tour guide father. She failed, of course, but the effort was still hilarious.

A purr rumbled from his throat, and almost seem to project deep from his belly at the sight of his mate and other children. Even more surprised as he was to finally see his sick son make it out of the Nursery, and he was pleasantly pleased to note that Shykit had also made his way out of Nursery and padded with swiftness to his side. He ran his bushy tail over his son's back, and glanced up, noticed that Umberwings was also approaching. He ran his head along her side, letting his purr rumble in amusement at her attempt to be young and inquisitive.
That's the whole pointDarekit's voice sang out to his brother, Shykit. No worries, Troublekit; I'm going to take you to introduce you to a few cats you havn't met yet, and maybe show you around. He said, not voicingt his opinions. He didn't think Musekit would be able to make it past the strong-rushing waterfall, and Shykit was definitly showing no ambition to do so either. He strode past Umberwings to lick his youngest son as he tottered out of the Nursery for the first time. Because his last and final kit had been taken from him, he had grown especially fond of his youngest. He was lucky to have survived, and it put a great warmth into his heart to show him around the camp almost more than to show it to his first two rough and tumble youngesters. [Of course, that ability was lost on him the first time they had slipped out unnoticed.]
Now, seeing how we're all so excited He chuckled at Musekit's [and Umberwing's] enthusiasm I'll take you to- The rest of his sentence was lost as a loud 'GERONIMO!' called out, resounding against the high walls of camp, and pitiful splash announced the first adventure Darekit was to have. He rushed past his family and bolted into the waterfall, letting it carry him down to grab his flailing kit. He swam up in calmer waters, and returned looking surly with a bright-eyed kit in his jaws. Troublekit! That was great! Try it!

Shykit stuck his tongue out at his brother. He didn't want to get wet, thanks all the same.
"I don't want to get wet," he retorted, staying planted right next to his father. He turned to look at the only other kit not in on this waterfall business, although he thought Musekit would probably be in on it if he had the energy. Shykit knew better than to say anything, Muse would not like sympathy.
He wondered who they were going to meet, and was in the middle of considering this idea, when the shout of "GERONIMO!" came from nearby, from Darekit's strong young lungs, followed by a mighty splash. Shykit, without thinking, jumped forward after his dad. The result was getting splashed when his father came back up with Darekit in his jaws. The big kit plopped his butt right down and licked busily at one of his paws, and then down his chest. Then he looked at Darekit, ears flicked back for a second.
"Maybe you should learn how to swim first," he taunted, completely unable to resist, in the way of siblings the world across.

Gagging quietly at the open signs of love between her mother and father, Troublekit amused herself by impatiently chasing her shadow which, just barely, kept out of her reach. Gaaah! Silly thing, be caught! But then Rustshade, done with all the lovey-dovey crap, spoke to her and she stopped, weaving a bit all dizzy but looking at him with wide golden-yellow eyes, “Who haven’t we met? They’re cool cats, right right?”
The wild little kit gave her ill brother a fond look – out of all her siblings he was the only one to actually never be a target to her rough-housing and she was very fond of him too, showing her kind side often when she tried to help him out. Even so, with mother to look out after him today this was a day fro adventure. Whee!
She bounced forward eagerly when there was a loud call and a splash, followed by another as Rustshade dove in to the pool to fetch Darekit…and it took only a minute for Troublekit to be rushing forward yelling, “YaHOO!” She swirled and then splashing into the cold waters with enough force to nearly knock the wind from her little body…but unlike some, the little kit took to the water like a fish, paddling around happily.
“Hey Shykit, your turn! Push him in iffa he don’t jump Darekit!”

Realizing he was in the perfect place to be knocked into the water, and realizing his brother was being egged on by his sister, Shykit stood up mid-grooming and bushed his tail until he looked like he had an irate feather duster attached to his hind end.
"No way, you're not gettin' me in there," he said, watching Darekit and Troublekit wearily. He didn't know who he was kidding, here. If they wanted to throw him in, they'd throw him in.

"Oh reaaally?" Musekit's voice came up from behind his considerably larger sibling as the small gray kit, unable to resist, gave Shykit a hefty shove forward into the water. Giggling at what he just did, he stepped back to watch as the rest of his littermates enjoyed themselves in the pool, feeling a slight sense of longing as he eyed the shining water.
Musekit was fully aware of the illness he had been born with and good StarClan, he HATED it. His ears flicked back as he considered what would happen if he joined in. If he wasn't careful, he could look forward to half a moon of feeling horrible, stuck in the Medicine Cat's Den with his mother fussing over him and force-feeding him disgusting herbs.
...oh, who cares. With an dismissing flick of his tail, Musekit rushed forward to dive into the pool. The water was unexpectedly cold, but he could deal with it, he thought, though his lungs felt ever-so-slightly constricted by the temperature. Didn't matter. He resurfaced with an joyful meow as he instinctively paddled to stay afloat.
"This is awesome!" His excited laugh broke off in several raspy coughs as his rib cage felt like it had suddenly been grabbed and squeezed. Musekit glanced around him nervously with wide-eyes. No one had heard, had they?

No, don't you- Troublekit! He barked, dropping Darekit instinctively as the small kit leapt off the edge with glee. He gave a horrified sigh of relief as her small head emerged from the water, kicking to stay afloat. Troublekit! Get out here, now! He yowled down at her from the ledge. At her comment, he flattened his ears. Oh no you- He growled as Shykit sneered at Darekit, and was about to launch himself at Shykit and follow Troublekit's orders. But much to his horror, so much that his chest constricted violently and his heart shot as it was Musekit instead who dashed past his older brother and barrelled right into Shykit, and one more kit was cannoned into the water below. Musekit! No don't- And he, too, leapt over the edge. Before he could do a doubletake, Darekit rose to meet the sky, using his tiny but strong legs to try and break through the powerful sheet of water.
The poor father could only stare in horror then relief as 4 heads bobbed in the pool surrounding the water. But as Musekit coughed, it was all he needed to launch himself in with his kits. Unlike Darekit, his legs were powerful and well-built, and he jumped through the waterfall without even a falter and plunged into the water. He surfaced gracefully, his fur sticking up in harried spikes as he scowled at his four kits. You three are in BIG trouble, do you-
But poor Rustshade couldn't get a sentence at all today, as Darekit leapt onto his father and Rustshade was plunged beneath the water. He gave a joyful laugh as Rustshade paddled away to surface several tail lengths from him, coughing and spitting.

"Oh reaaally?" Shykit turned to look at his smaller brother, but hadn't turned even halfway when he was bowled into the water. He felt the cold water close over his head and panicked for a second, but instinct made his paws paddle the water, and he popped back up above the water, soaking wet and mad as a hornet. "You're so dead," he growled, the high pitched growl of an angry kit. While his sibling was distracted, Shykit paddled over to Darekit and splashed him in the back of the head with a gleeful cackle.

Oh lord.
What had she and Rustshade unleashed on the clan?
Umberwings rolled her sharp yellow eyes Starclanwards before padding forward, looking at her mate and four children in the water below. “Alright you five, get out of there before you catch greencough.” The calm medicine cat slowly smiled, winking towards her kits before giving them all a look of mock severity. “If you don’t, I’ll ground you all to the nursery for a moon. You too Rustshade!”
While she didn’t personally mind water, it was too cold for her to drag herself into the water with her family…so, the tiny she-cat was more willing then not to simply wait outside for them to get out.
Musekit in particular. Umberwings’ fur raised a bit as she heard her youngest son cough, giving her mate a sudden beseeching look for him to get him out of there pronto.

“You go, Musekit!” Troublekit treaded water as her little bro shoved Shykit right into the water, before leaping in himself. It was all too shortly when Darekit and their father too leaped in, so that, aside from mother who stayed nice and dry, they were all taking a lovely little dip.
Grinning evilly, the gold and black she-kit sloshed out with her paws, seeking to drench her brothers as much as she possibly could, even while giggling like an idiot at their mom’s words. Dad, getting grounded too? How awesome would that be?

It was freaking cold in the water! Shykit didn't mind so much, but he really didn't want to get grounded. Being grounded was too boring even for Shykit. He paddled to the side of the pond and dragged himself out, shivering, then wandered over to his mother, still streaming water.
"Mommaaaa~" he chirped, rubbing up against her side and managing to leave a wet streak down her side where he rubbed water off on her. He giggled and bounced away, then flopped in the dirt and rolled to dry his fur.
Really, it just made him look like a giant, furry mudball.
