Soft evening sunlight bathed the thick trees of TreeClan's forest casting a warm glow on their rough brown bark. The sound of many birds singing to the setting sun mingled with the steady trickle of the river, nothing could spoil such a peaceful, idyllic setting. It was late Newleaf, the foliage had blossomed and the dead leaves of leafbare had begun to disappear from the forest floor, evenings were lengthening, the sunlight holding out for a few more minutes every day. In light of this better weather, the prey had started to come out of hiding, peeping from small burrows in the ground and holes up trees to sniff at the air and venture out to forage for food. If truth be told it was one of the better seasons for living in a Clan. The evening patrol had just left camp for a tour of the borders and the hunting parties were returning home for the day after a long afternoon of hard work. Forestfoot, the grey and white patchy Warrior, was one of the latest to return to camp with his catch as the tomcat liked to take his time over a hunt, in his mind, relaxation was the key for success. His time had not been wasted. He returned for the day with two doormice and a small sparrow dangling from his jaws.
Padding over to the freshkill pile with a smile on his face he placed the deceased down gently and swiped his pink tongue around his lips in a satisfied sort of way. The camp was relatively quiet at this time of day so the tomcat picked up a mouse - a scruffy, stale looking thing from one of yesterdays hunts - and sauntered over to sit and eat in the clearing. He lay, basking in the sun, outside the Warriors Den, slowly chewing at the tough piece of freshkill he'd chosen. He didn't mind too much that the mouse was stale, there were other cats who needed warm kill more than himself and he was a little on the tubsy side in any case. He finished his meal and rested his head down on his paws, gazing around the camp with interest. He cast a look over at the leaders den and wondered how Amberstar was coping, it was rumoured that she had been carrying kits and had birthed recently. The scents and sounds that had been coming from the nursery, mingled with her absence from busy Clan life made the tom pretty certain that this was the case, though it had not yet been confirmed.
Kits would be good for TreeClan, it meant more apprentices and in the long run - more Warriors. Forestfoot was still somewhat a stranger to the ways of the Clans, how they lived and trained and the like, however he wasn't stupid. The more Warriors a Clan had, the stronger they were - that was obvious. The tomcat sighed heavily, he was looking forward to having an apprentice, someone to guide and shape, even influence. He closed his eyes, still lying in the fading sunshine, and daydreamed of having his own apprentice, of battle moves and hunting techniques.. his tail flicked happily as he imagined the day his apprentice became a Warrior, the kind rush of thankyous that would pour from his or her mouth and the pride in having trained a strong, talented cat.. He knew it would be a long while before he was trusted with the life of a new apprentice, he may never get given the chance, but it gave him something to think about and hope for anyway.
The birdsong had quietened in the past half hour but the trickle of the stream continued to break the silence, never ending. The evening sunshine turned from cozy yellow to striking orange as the sun began to disappear over the horizon, her dying flames spreading out into the clear sky like a forest fire. Greenleaf was almost here at last..
(OoC: I know this is classed as being in two places at one time, and that I've done that before, but no one answers the originals and I want someone to RP with =] The original posts can be deleted if you really want..)
