A small white cat prowled silently through the landscape. Winter eventually settled near a patch of rocks, creeping into the shadows so that her white pelt became less noticeable. Her green eyes fixed on a plump mouse nearby. She waited patiently until it came nearer then leaped, killing the mouse with one bite. She padded back to the rock cluster and lay down, taking a few mouthfuls. She hadn't seen many cats around, and was beginning to feel a little lonely. She had been out on her own for a moon now, and although she was doing fine taking care of herself she vaguely missed the companionship of the other cats in the barn, of which there had been plenty.
