Hai all, thought I'd join in and see if I could come up with anything decent. I'll post the beginning of the story (I couldn't do a whole book.. ^^
and you can tell me what you think and then I'll see if I can be bothered to write anymore of it! =D Here goes;
The moon rose steadily into the dark night, a perfect circle to the eye. Veils of smoke blocked it from view, cutting off the light of moon and stars alike. And yet there was still some light in the forest - a glowing cluster of amber in the distance, as people fought to calm the flames that had claimed so many lives that day.
A deep muddy-brown shape hurtled through the undergrowth a short way off from this devastating scene, it quickly found the tallest tree in the vicinity and scrabbled to the topmost branch. Looking out in the direction of the fire, his yellow eyes reflected the throbbing glow.
Though he could not see the moon he knew it was full, and he threw back his head in a yowl to the heavens.
It was a heart-rending cry of pure grief and loss. A ghostly wail that seemed to last for eternity.
The tom-cat stopped for breath before letting out another mournful note, this time, mingled with the grief were emotions Morfin had rarely ever come across - anger, bitterness, and self-loathing.
