This is not my clan...
A broken king.
A better cat.
He felt as if returning to his clan would bring overwhelming happiness. Instead, his heart bled. His clan, his family; how would they react to his return? Bane had feared they would shun him, for not returning home straight away, for showing weakness and being defeated by Kestrel. He would never have returned, had it not been for... him.
"So this is the great BoneClan... Two dark red eyes, embedded among a pelt of pure white - and a smug, arrogant grin. The majestic white cat prowled next to the old BoneClan leader. The couple were equal in height, yet still the white tom seemed to dwarf the aging black cat. Had anyone else spoken to him like that, Bane would have had their throats out. But this cat... well, Bane had to write a whole set of new rules for him. The black tom lacked any emotion in his gaze, simply staring at the pitiful camp in the hope his family would turn up and greet him as though he had never gone, as though he had never fallen in battle. "So, big guy? We just gonna stand here?" Bane's ears flicked, and after a moment's hesitation his eyes closed, and he let out a long, mournful sigh.
"No... I'm sorry, but I was wrong. I can't do this. Let's go." "Hey, whoa! So you're just gonna give up? Turn away and never see them again? What about your daughter?" Darkangel. Bane's heart started to pound as he thought of how close he was to seeing her again. He inhaled slowly, and savoured the scents of each clanmember, every one of his family. He was so close, but something was wrong. Something didn't smell right. Something had changed.
"This is not my clan."
The white tom's red orbs widened, until his pupils slit in confusion. "What?""This isn't them. Something's.... different. Something's changed.
Bane carried on staring. As much as he wanted to leave, similarly he could not bare to turn and leave. But the change... whatever had happened to his clan, he could not bare to find out. Was his daughter dead? Had they finally given in to the other clans? Were they outcast? He feared the worst, and feared that whatever it was he would not be able to cope with it. As this thought struck him, another bolt of pain ran through his body, burning his heart and weakening his muscles.
His legs buckled underneath him, as he fell out of consciousness momentarily.
"Just great." The young white cat grabbed Bane's scruff and moved him into a more comfortable position, before forcing what seemed like a small seed pellet into his mouth. After about 30 seconds, Bane's eyes opened wearily.
Since the battle with Kestrel, Bane body had suffered. Whilst the mental strain he had suffered was no longer, Kestrel's blows to his stomach and chest had left his heart weakened. He occasionally suffered from these attacks; had his companion not found him and concocted a medicine that atleast kept him from going unconscious, Bane would no doubt be dead now.
As if nothing had happened, Bane slowly stood back up and resumed his staring at the new camp.
"What if they hate me? What if they try and kill me? I told you, something has changed, and I don't wanna know what." "Listen, buddy. This is your clan you're talking about - your family. They ain't just gonna turn on you. And if they do, I'll show em who they're messing with. Silence. It was as if Bane hadn't heard him, but the white tom knew how the BoneClan leader worked. He wasn't one for words, but the two had learnt how to co-operate. They knew eachothers minds. And so the tom knew that he had convinced Bane to stay, to atleast see what happens. And for some reason, the white cat would stay by his side. Bane had worked his charms, found another loyal companion to fight for him - or in this case look after him. Bane was not as strong as he once was, but there was something about him that meant the white tom respected, feared, and above all was inclined to help him.
No doubt Bane would work his charm once more on his beloved clan.

[A tad bit o' powerplayin', is that alright Bane? ^^]The sun's last rays sprang from where the great orange ball was setting, setting the golden streaks in the she-cat's fur to shimmer. Her emerald green eyes - those of her father - gleamed in the dimming light.
She and her trusty deputy, the tom who had been with her since she'd come to Boneclan, had rebuilt the dying clan.
Darkangel rose from where she lay curled up, eyes open and watching, outside what would be the leader's den. She couldn't bring herself to live inside; she couldn't bring herself to believe she was the leader and her father was dead.
"Sharpfang, I will lead the dusk hunting patrol. Get Spiderlily and Scythepaw please."
She knew, she knew all too well, that Scythepaw had been ready to become a warrior for ... well, since the war. Scythepaw, Barbwire, Panic, moremoremore probally, all of them deserved to be warriors now. But Darkangel just couldn't do it. All of them were great fighters, could hunt with the skills of a senior warrior. But without her father, she wasn't quite sure she would be able to complete the ceremonies.
Without waiting for her patrol, Darkangel left the camp. This mountain region was so full of hawks and eagles, she could taste them and their scent already, along with dozens of mice.
Another scent came with the breeze, one she was sure she didn't smell. With that scent was another, unfamiliar smell. Both were cats.
No, that can't be him, Darkangel scolded herself. You're stupid, You're an idiot who's just imagining things. Don't do this. But the black she-cat was sure the scent was real ... She turned slowly, afraid of what she would see.
And there it was. A black cat, much older than he should look, but there he was. She could see the three scars under his blind eye. The other was the same emerald green as her own. There was Bane.
Darkangel stood, frozen. Another cat, white, who looked stronger than her father, was there. No. Bane was dead. He was dead, he was dead, this wasn't happening. You're insane! her mind screamed at her. But her paws moved forward, slow at first, then before she knew it she was running towards her father.
"Bane!"
She was sure her screech reached all the way to Mistclan, but she didn't care. Her father was home. She crashed into him, burying her nose in his fur.
Bane was back.

I believe in people dying.
A lean black form melted from the warrior den, stretching and showing razor teeth in a brief yawn. Then, hearing Darkangel's voice, Pripyat rose to his paws and padded toward his leader.
Things had changed. This place, this high, lonely forest of stone, this was still not home. Pripyat could not resist the call of the warmer woodlands below, and often went wandering down to prowl in BoneClan's old territory. But he never strayed long. The land was alien to him, but the scents imprinted over it were not. His Clan. His family. With them, he could feel comfortable here.
So he seemed in fairly high spirits this evening, even curling his tail in that characteristic way he had when he was happy.
Then a new scent reached his nose. His ears angled sideways and his head followed, his blue eyes narrowing at the thought of intruders. But when he caught sight of these 'intruders'...it was nothing like what he expected.
Shock flitted across his face. This looked like Bane. His leader. His king. Carried the same scent, the same scars. But Bane was dead.
Time had passed; Pripyat's wounds had healed. A new scar had set on his face. And it seemed that the currents of the world had seen fit to bring Bane to life again.
Pripyat took one step forward, tilting his head, staring intently at the black cat. Neither the white cat nor Darkangel's cry seemed to effect him. "Bane?" he breathed, his voice almost too quiet for his own ears.
Yes. Yes! This was him. Pripyat's senses never lied.
Finally, louder this time: "Bane."
And then Pripyat bounded forward, curling his tail in delight. "Bane! We missed you!" he sang, dancing around Darkangel to get a better look at the black tom. A wide grin stood out on his face; if you didn't know him, you would probably find that mad grin frightening. But Bane ought to know a nice Prip-grin when he saw one. The wolfish black tom even went so far as to bump Bane's shoulder affectionately in that way cats have. Then he stood back, and for the first time his blue eyes shifted to examine the white cat.
"Who might you be?" he meowed politely, not wishing to spoil the mood with hostility. This looked like Bane's guest, after all. [/blockquote]

The cold hardness of the stone floor made Panic shiver. Though he had grown significantly since Pripyat had chased him to the old Boneclan camp - oh how he missed it! - the black tom, even as an adult, was still small and lacked much muscle to keep him warm, giving him a frail look.
His leader's shriek jerked the small black tom awake. What was wrong? Eagles?! Panic leaped to his paws, but as he analyzed the hysteria in Darkangel's voice, it wasn't fear.
Joy? What?!
"Barbwire? Scythepaw! Wake up!"
He nudged each of his friends in turn with his nose, smelling their scents with a deep breath in. That's creepy, he told himself. Don't do that, they'll kill you. He knew both of the she-cats were formidable fighters. One of them would literally eat him. They would have his hide as their bedding if they caught him doing anything like that, most likely.
Panic sprang out of the apprentices' den, excitement guiding his paws. Could that really be true? Bane was dead; how could he be back? But still he bounded forward, following his best friend Pripyat's scent.
"Bane?!"
His yowl, though not as loud as Darkangel's, was bound to scare away a few mice. Panic ran around Pripyat in excitement, grinning like a fairly normal cat against Prip's frightening smile.
"Bane, what, you're back?! How...What?!"
The small black tom decided that it might be time to shut his mouth now.

Poor Sharpfang. Poor, poor old Sharpfang.
He was laying on his side as Darkangel approached, brown eyes glowing in the half dark as he opened them. They were quite lack-luster anymore, and Darkangel's feelings had mirrored his own. The both of them were quite lost without Bane.
Sharpfang had hung on in life as best as he could, keeping the Clan organized and running smoothly. But lately, he'd found more time to sleep, to ponder.... His cheek against the stone floor, his eyes flitted from Darkangel, as she stepped away, to the two cats she requested. Without even raising his head, he looked at the two she-cats.
"Sai-paw, Spid'rlillee, go wit Darkang'l, yer on huntin' patrol," He barked, causing his voice to echo around the cave. His ears flicked as he heard a single word. It took several moments for it to register in his mind.
... Bane.
Bane?
Bane.
Bane.... Where had he heard that name before?
Oh! Right!
Sharpfang bolted from his resting spot on the cold floor, darting out with more vigor he'd ever shown after Bane's death. Wait a minute... Bane was dead? So who was this cat, with scars under his blind eye, and that liquid green eye, staring back at that clan? With that strong white tom at his side.
"Bane! Riportin' fer duty! Glad t'have y'back," He said pleasantly, holding back the urge to launch himself upon the old black cat. He regarded the white tom now, who stood protectively over the old tom.
Something flicked in Sharpfang's mind.... Jealousy? Perhaps? Don't tell him that Bane had found a new right hand man! Poor Sharpfang, he was getting old, but still as good as ever! He let the others ask his questions for him, to pertain a mysterious air about him.
Barbwire hissed as she was torn awake by Panic's urgent voice, and she opened her auburn eyes with a grouchy glaze in her eye. Like Panic, she had grown much, and turned into a beautiful she-cat. She looked like her father, much as he was back in his prime, whe he'd met... Well, her mother. Shame they weren't around.
Well, let her rephrase that. Where Heartless was no longer present, Goldenblaze had taken to the darkness. He was growing old, and slowly withering away, his sanity slowly chipping away, his once stable mind threatening to topple to the floor. In fact, even as she looked, the old tom was staring with a glazed look at the wall, not reacting at all to the shouts of 'Bane'.
.... Wait a minute... As Panic bolted out of the cavern, the pretty-she was soon to follow, and she gave a devious grin. So, the great Bane was back!!
... And, well, not looking quite as better than ever, but back nonetheless. Aging had quite taken a toll on the great leader, but it didn't take away that spark, that power that emanated from him.
"Great to have you back then, Bane," She said with a toothy grin, much resembling Heartless at any rate.

Nothing. There was nothing, and everything. So much had changed since Boneclan had been evicted from their previous lands, banished to this world of snow and barren hostility, and yet…much of it remained the same. So much the same. Was that it, really? Was that all? Grace’s touch, so faint, so light, and the clan continued on. Golden eyes looked down at the cats before her from the one of the craggy outcroppings that hid the camp from view, the expression unreadable.
Where her dear, beloved, Pripyat had taken to wandering Boneclan’s lone lands, the blunt executioner had picked a point high above the others, away…away where she couldn’t be bothered. After her duties were done for the day, or before the dawn of a new one, the tabby would carve her way up to the vantage point, and just…look out. From there, from there she could see worlds and worlds, from the clan’s old lands she had once called home, to the lands of those goody clans that rallied to Risingclan’s aid…to lands beyond, far beyond, where no one but those who had traveled there knew.
the world we knew won't come back It was there, those misty points, where she watched for long spans of time, silent as the clouds that drifted overhead. It was there she just…remembered, everything and everyone she had left behind. Her friends were gone. Her squad, gone. Her old haunts, gone. There wouldn’t be the same place for her if she went back, even though in the city her name would be remembered forever.
They say that when you see someone that you’ll never meet again, spider lilies carpet the path in red.
A voice called from below, startling the tabby from her thoughts. Yawning quietly so rose to her paws, already knowing who the owner of the voice was. Darkangel. While she would never really respect the she-cat, the terrible first impression of a snotty spoiled kit never replaced by something more respectable, she would do until a better leader rose. Spiderlily for one was not interested in killing the she-cat and taking over, she liked the small hit-squads of five cats or less back in her real home so much better then a large group to command, but she remain for one cat.
…one cat only.
the time we've lost can't get back Even as voices rose, drawing her attention, the tabby did not hurry as she meandered her way back down to the clan’s camp, ears swiveling only when she spotted Bane. Oh? How nice. Leader boy was still alive and kicking, maybe they could actually start doing something with themselves outside the struggle to survive. She yawned a bit, gold eyes settling on Pripyat for a long warm moment, before looking around. Aside from Bane and this odd white stranger, of whom she could really not care less about, there was Darkangel, Prip, Barbwire, Panic…and good old reliable Sharpfang. Mm. Almost the entire clan, wasn’t it? Goldenblaze was probably off moping somewhere, for goodness sake, and who knew where everyone else was. Briefy, she idly wandered if Bane would question where were Heartless and Razorblade, but she supposed that would be answered in good time, and not by her.
Ah well. They would have to make do.
the life we had won't be ours again And my, my...wasn't this growing interesting? Let's add to the fun~ “Yo Bossman, how’s it hangin’?” The feral tabby purred in amusement as she padded over to Pripyat’s side, giving the dark leader a courtesy once-over. Hm. Her sharp, piercing gaze flicked over to his white comrade, the openly false politeness not even flickering once. Disrespectful as always, that was our Spiderlily for you.
this world will never be what I expected

Wintertongue chuckled lightly to himself as Bane remained silent. He knew that his words had sunk in. Bane wouldn't turn around a slink away into the dust. Now that he was here, he didn't have it in him to leave again. Which was good, since Winter needed to settle in one spot for a while so he could gather herbs and mix up some more of Bane's medicine. He was running very low, and this much travel was hard on the black cat's old heart.
Winter felt a silent shiver run through him and he closed his red eyes. Once Bane was settled in, he wasn't quite sure what was going to happen. He respected and to a degree, admired the leader - he was a tough old cat, worthy of the loyalty of his Clan. Winter squashed the flicker of hope he felt in his heart, shaking himself to flatten his white pelt. He couldn't expect to intrude into Bane's life or Clan. The pretty tom would be prepared to leave before the week was out.
His eyes flashed wide at the horrifically loud screech of a she-cat. He tucked his ears back as his expression twisted, wishing he could plug something in his ears.
"Didn't tell me you had a damn banshee in the Clan." he muttered to himself. But even a blind cat could see the resemblance between Bane and the she-cat. No one else could possibly have the exact same shade of liquid green eyes. It had to be Darkangel, his daughter. Mindful of his tenuous position he kept quiet and risked a quick, awkward smile as butterflies invaded his stomach. She was very, very pretty. Winter suddenly even more akward and out of place.
The small smile fell off his face completely as first one, and then several more cat's appeared out of their hidey-holes, shouting greetings to their returning leader. The butterflies in this gut suddenly doubled in size, and felt rather more like rocks now. Large, pointy rocks. Especially at the glances he was getting, some furtive and some deliberately blatant. He set his jaw, determined not to be cowed by these strangers. Instead, he put on a cocky smirk, flicking his red gaze over to Bane before answering the only cat to verbally question the white tom's presence.
"Well I might be the any old rouge or assassin, but you can call me Wintertongue. Fighter and healer extraordinaire, here to help our dear Bane until he finally gets fed up with me and my good looks."
He looked at the scarred black cat again, chuckling lightly to cover his nerves. "Ya didn't tell me about the fan club, big guy. I woulda put a little more into my mornin' wash if knew we were gonna get the welcoming committee." Probably not the most intelligent thing to say, but the tom was off balance, and attempting to recover without anyone noticing.

Bane remained still and silent as his clan - lacking in numbers but making up for it in loyalty to eachother - gathered in front of him, as if he'd just gone for a walk. He wished he could join in their joy, but as he observed the pathetic camp he still sensed that something wasn't right.
Goldenblaze was in the corner, staring at the wall. Bane's heart lurched. His old friend, once a pathetic Clan apprentice, had come to Bane with all the intentions of proving his strength, his undying loyalty. At first Bane had scorned him, laughed in his face at the idea that an apprentice could hope to seek acceptance into BoneClan - but Goldenblaze had proven him wrong. Bane had seen him grow in this clan, and seen his strength improve. There from the start, Goldenblaze was a true BoneClan warrior...
and to see him so old, so broken. Bane wanted to cry. He would have, if he were alone. But in the presence of Winter, his daughter and his warriors, such a show would ruin him. He stared at Goldenblaze.... and then realised what was wrong.
"Where's Heartless?"
He whispered, so that only Wintertongue and Darkangel were likely to hear. His gaze turned to the ground, not able to look up at the gleaming faces before him as he realised why his clan felt wrong. Heartless couldn't have died. Of all the warriors he thought she would be the one most capable of surviving. It all felt wrong - a BoneClan without Heartless, her scent nowhere on this ground. No wonder Goldenblaze was in such a state. His mate was more to him than just that. They had been inseperable. And Barbwire? It was not surprising that she seemed able to cope with such despair. She was strong, a true fighter.
And so the only question now-
"What happened to her? She can't be...."
dead.
He felt his anger rising to dangerous levels. He ignored Winter's little introduction speech, standing slowly buthis single green eye still staring, burning holes into the ground. He wanted so badly to know... but equally, hearing it would ruin him. Conflicting messages in his mind - feeling himself get dizzy and hot, he clenched his eyes shut and shouted.
"TELL ME!"
The power in his voice was surprising. His heart lurched.
Heartless couldn't be....
...she couldn't be dead.
Could she?

Darkangel didn't want to her father's side, even as the rest of Boneclan trickled out of the camp and tried to get a better look at their broken leader.
She ignored the rude comment directed at her made by this Wintertongue cat; if he was going to be in Boneclan, she'd get used to it, hopefully. Positive thoughts. She threw a sharp look at Panic when the young tom wouldn't take his damned foot out of his mouth, and as the rest of them greeted Bane, his daughter just smiled weakly at the ground.
As Bane asked the dreaded question,
""Where's Heartless?"
Darkangel tensed.
"What happened to her? She can't be…"
The dark she-cat opened her mouth to speak, a bit afraid of her father's reaction.
"Bane…"
"TELL ME!"
Pain threatened to flood the joy that had filled her when she'd seen her father, alive. Heartless, gone. It wasn't the greatest "welcome" greeting. Oh, yes, Heartless offed the medicine cat and ran away, that's a wonderful thing to tell your father within minutes of him returning home, Darkangel's mind snarled at her.
Shut up, brain.
"Bane, Heartless is gone.
She killed Razorblade and left. I'm sorry…"
Darkangel longed to press closer to Bane, but she dreaded what his reaction to Heartless's departure would be.

I believe in people dying.
A low rumbling started in Pripyat's chest.
Heartless. Traitor. Insane.
The lean black tomcat's stance changed, became more predatory. The mad gleam in his blue eyes grew positively dangerous. "She betrayed us," he growled, his happy and singsong voice falling to a low and vicious snarl. "The loss broke her mind. She murdered our medicine cat when we needed him most. She would have killed her own mate, if she had been given the chance." He showed his teeth in his wolfish way. "I regret that I was interrupted before I could kill her."
The silver tom. Strangely fast, skilled in combat, unusual. "The tom wanted her body," Pripyat meowed, a flash of bemusement crossing his furious face. "I don't know why. But she was unconsious when he took her. With those wounds, it is likely that she is now dead."
Pripyat did not think about what his harsh words might do to his broken leader; tact was never his strongest point. He only thought that Bane deserved the entire truth.
Now the anger was fading, to be replaced almost completely by confusion. "She had been such a good warrior..." he murmured. "But she left us. Something in her changed."
The mad black warrior changed tack so fast it was dizzying: "You are staying with us, aren't you, Bane?" His voice, his expression, even his body language grew more cheerful. It was sudden, and the newcomer Wintertongue might have found it alarming. Speaking of him... Pripyat turned to look at the white tom, his blue eyes wide and welcoming. "And you, will you be our medicine cat?" He sounded rather eager for a cat greeting a stranger...but if his leader trusted Wintertongue, then Pripyat trusted Wintertongue. [/blockquote]

Heartless, heartless...
Heartless...
"TELL ME!"
The words slowly sank in to the tom, and he blinked, getting to his unstable feet, almost dragging himself to stand in front of Bane. His eyes were dilated badly, and he swayed where he stood, twitching, shivering...
He looked around slowly, at first, then he became panicked and frenzied, tossing his head to the side and whirling around until he collapsed. Barbwire looked down in mild surprise. "Now, daddy, you musn't do that, you'll make an embarrasment of yourself," She said, leaving her post in front of Bane to come to her father's aide.
It made sense to Goldenblaze. If Bane was here again, where was his Heartless? Hadn't that been what happened as she threw herself over? Hadn't that been why he attacked her, pleading her to come to her senses as she tried desperatly to kill the tom?
"Where's my Heartless?" He murmured, almost inaudibly at first, but Barbwire shook her head.
"Where's my Heartless?" He breathed as Barbwire pushed against his shoulder.
"Where's my Heartless?" He said louder, pushing up against Barbwire as he looked around, then straight at Bane, before blinking and looking away as Barbwire took him away.
"Where's my Heartless?!" He barked at Barbwire, who cooly regarded him. "Now now, Daddy, go to bed," She said, pushing him onward.
"WHERE'S MY HEARTLESS?" He howled at her, and suddenly he rose to his feet, looking almost back to his old splendor...
But it must have been a trick of the light as he trundled away to stare back at the wall, twitching and shivering once more, and closing his eyes. Barbwire watched him with mild surprise before she came back. His answer had been answered, and Barbwire bothered not with answering as well. It was clear that Heartless's treachery had taken a toll on him, and his sanity was slowly ebbing away. It wouldn't be long before he broke and went from doing nothing to killing everything at once. She shook her head. "I'm sorry about that, Bane," She said, but she had seen the way that he stood, the light coming back to his eyes for a brief heartbeat, the shine in his coat returning for a second before it vanished, and he walked away back to his wall. Perhaps he wasn't quite going insane, maybe it was just covering up his old personality before it made a return...
Barbwire could only hope.

Silence.
He couldn't quite believe what he was hearing.
Goldenblaze - his outburst was disturbing. Barbwire's hopeless attempts at calming him were even more frightening. Bane stared at the broken tom, his eyes glazed over and unreadable.
"She's gone..."
The big black tom's fur began to bristle, in frustration, anger; fear.
"So she ran away and you haven't tried to find her? She killed our medicine cat and none of you thought to follow her and avenge his death?!"
His body was shaking uncontrollably.
"Why?! I thought I'd trained you to let go of emotions! Did it hurt so much to think of her now as an enemy? Or were you too busy mourning over the dead?!"
Bane didn't know what he was saying.
He didn't mean it.
Never would he have been able to bring himself to kill Heartless; he was just angry that nobody was able to stop it.
Clenching his eyes tight, the anger seemed to fade.
He sat down, staring once more at the ground.
And there was silence...
"Wintertongue shall be our new medicine cat."
He answered Pripyat's question, expecting some sort of argument from the white cat but not caring for anything he said.
"Tonight, I sit in vigil for Razorblade."
...but not Heartless. He couldn't bring himself to mourn for her. The traitorous bitch.
"And tomorrow... we are moving to find another camp. Any arguments or questions.... keep them to yourself."
The weakened old cat walked slowly to what appeared to be the camp entrance, and sat, staring blankly at the sky - hoping that perhaps after tonight, things would begin to make more sense.

I know your tainted flesh...
Winter blinked, and looked at Bane with wide as the cat whispered. You could probably have bitten the tension, it was so thick, and Winter looked down at his paws. He had a small seed-like thing wedged between his toes. The cat winced; only one left... if Bane had another attack now, he'd be wiped out of his supply. Which would leave the cat in a dangerous situation for a day or two while Winter gathered new supplies and packed them into the small seeds. The white cat leaned closer to Bane to support him as the leader stood. His ears flicked back and his eyes narrowed with pain as Bane yelled.
"TELL ME!"
The white tom looked up at the sky, begging Starclan to make the coming moments easy on Bane's heart. But as Darkangel explained, his red eyes looked to her green. They were filled with empathy, and a deep sadness - he knew what it was to loose someone close. But the flicker was gone in a second, and the tom shook himself. Stop dwelling on the past, stupid.
Still saying nothing and standing close to Bane, supportive and protective, the tom flicked his glance to Pripyat. He raised an eyebrow, inquisitive. The flicker of emotions that guy could make were astonishing, really. But he'd seen worse as a rogue, so it didn't bother him too much.
"And you, will you be our medicine cat?"
Winter smiled hesitantly at Pripyat's welcoming expression. He was off balance, but it was nice to see someone who seemed friendly.
"Well, I can help for a bit but I'm not..."
"WHERE'S MY HEARTLESS?"
Winter ducked, his fur standing on end, red eyes wide. He stared openly at Goldenblaze, a little angry at having reacted so violently to the other cat. He stood up a little straighter and turned to lick his fur quickly back into place, doing a little composure grooming. Bane told me they were off, but hoo boy...
Of course the grooming did nothing as his fur lifted again as Bane started. Winter glared at the others, almost as if blaming them for this.
"She's gone..."
"C'mon big guy... Stay calm, okay?" Winter breathed softly to Bane, so only he and Darkangel could hear. He glanced at the she-cat for support, pleading with his eyes. He could hear the anger in Bane's voice, but he knew he didn't mean it. Winter sighed - this was going to be a fun week.
"Wintertongue shall be our new medicine cat."
The tom started, staring at Bane as if he'd gone mad.
"But, Bane...." He sighed as the leader - his leader? - very obviously ignored him and continued speaking. "We will be talking about this, later." her muttered under his breath.
When the old tom walked away, the white cat shuffled his feet, and sat on his haunches, tense and unsure. His gaze drifted around from cat to cat, finally settling on Darkangel, and Pripyat.
"So... hello then. What now?" he grinned weakly, obviously out of place and feeling uncomfortable.
I know your filthy soul.

I believe in people dying.
"Sssaaa." Pripyat let out a low hiss. A new camp? Right when we was starting to get used to this one? Well...
It was Bane's choice. If Bane said 'new camp', then Pripyat could do nothing but follow.
Still, it was damnably irritating.
Wintertongue's voice startled the black tom; he hopped up, turning in midair to face his new medicine cat. Pripyat stared intently at him for almost a full minute before answering. Then: "Helloo, medicine cat!" he sang cheerfully. "I'm Pripyat! Welcome to BoneClan." He glanced curiously around the camp, looking for someone to drag over and show his new clanmate. He seemed a little like a child with a new toy. He immediately sighted Panic. Dashing over, he snatched playfully at the young tom's scruff. "Come on! Meet Wintertongue," he mewed. Then he padded toward Spiderlilly, slowing down as he grew closer. He gave her a long, intense look, studying her expression, trying to see what she was thinking. Bane back? This new cat? What could she be thinking about all this? Then he grinned and said, very quietly for a change, "Spiderlilly? Come meet Wintertongue." [/blockquote]

Murder is an art...
Scythepaw had sat out the welcoming party in total silence. Once Panic had woken her, she had walked out of the den and gone no further. Bane was back. How wonderful...
Was it because she had not been in BoneClan long or in spite of it, that she cared so little for its leader? The young she-cat couldn't care less who led these ragtag group of misfits, so long as at least one of them turned her into a more efficient killer. She was certainly not an ugly cat or a complete social infidel. Eyes as deep red as wine, with an overlapping coat the colors of soil and clotted blood blended into snowy white. Scythepaw was a new beauty, but she didn't flaunt it. Perhaps it would be of use later in her life, as a lure...
They were all so freaking devoted to Bane. What had he done for them anyway? Besides lead them into a war they were outmatched in and practically die within the first hour of it. Growling quietly to herself, the she-cat swished her lush tail over the ground in an agitation. There were only two cats in this clan who she held any respect for in the slightest and it was only because they had proven themselves worthy of it. Her mentor Pripyat was among those two because Scythepaw had never seen a cat more in love with the art of killing, and was he ever good at it. The only other, well...Scythepaw found it hard to really classify this one. He was such a scrawny tom, but she found such an admiration for his prowess despite it. Yes, Panic was the other. If Scythepaw knew what love was, she may have realized that she loved the little tom, but she'd never been taught about feelings. Cannibalism kind of roots those things out early on...but maybe one day...
For now though, she'd have to wait things out. Play it by ear. If she was ever going to make any headway here, she'd have to pretend to be a good little clan cat and not step too far over the line. Alone, she could take any cat in this clan, but even she didn't think herself as powerful enough to stand against them all. Remembering the war brought back other memories, of a certain group of cats she'd met in secret there. All of them had been rogues, two toms and one she-cat. The toms had excited her in their ferocity and lack of mercy. It was so thrilling to picture them in her head, to feel the way her blood stirred...
Alas, right now she was a member of BoneClan and a member she would stay...for now...
