He stood on the borders of a clan. He wasn't afraid. He walked boldly inside the boudries. He didn't smell any cats. Well, he did but they were either stale or weren't from the clan. He would be six moons next month. He stared into the sky. Yup. This'll be my home. He didn't think anyone would hear. But he called out anyway. "I'll be in your clan no matter what. I promise I'll be a good warrior someday!" The echo made him realize how alone he was and for the first time he cried. He was helpless. He lied down and went to sleep.

After having no reply, and waiting until the sun had noticably moved the shadows, she heard another voice. Rosekit wandered off in the direction the voice came from, and when she saw the cat demanded, "Who are you?"

Deepcreek was in a foul mood. When it became clear that something horrible had gone on at camp, she'd turned and gone to track the trail of whoever'd done it, hellbent on finding and killing them. She'd had just about enough of standing around and not chasing down cats who'd wronged her clan.
But instead, she found two younger cats just yowling away on the borders like they owned the place. Fur fluffed out, tail lashing, Deepcreek stalked over to where she could hear the voices.
"I suggest you not tell anyone in this clan that you're staying here no matter what, kit," she hissed as she came through the bushes. Well, he was sleeping. Great. There was, however, another kit here. Deepcreek stared at her for a moment, fighting down the really unnecessary malice towards other beings she was feeling right now. She was tired, hungry, and sore. Not a good combination.
"Why must you youngsters choose now, of all times, to go invading our territory? Now is not a good time. Everyone's a little touchy," she growled. And Kestrel was busy, so who knew how long these two would have lazed about here before someone found them? Deepcreek bared her teeth for a moment and lashed her tail in irritation. Perhaps she should go hunting for the clan before she went off vowing doom and destruction to certain other cats. The freshkill pile was a hopelessly lost cause. May as well be useful, then maybe Kestrel wouldn't get quite as annoyed with her for going off without any real orders.
But what was she going to do about these two? She could just leave them here, go get Kestrel, and come back. Deepcreek sighed.

Yowls echoed in Moss's ears. There were more cats! She bolted towards the sound, her ears pricked hopefully. Perhaps she'd be able to join RisingClan today after all! She skidded to a wary stop a few tail-lengths away, listening for sounds of hostiliy.

Broken woke up immediately and saw a cat. "Who are you?" he demanded of the she cat.

The warrior rolled her eyes expressively at the sky as she heard another cat skidding around in the grass. No attacker would be so foolish as to be that loud.
"Come out of those bushes, whoever you are. I won't bite, and I'll sit on either of these other two if they even think about it," she said with one of those exasperated tones of voice.
"Where are your mothers?" she asked, though it was more of a rhetorical question. Her gazed traveled from the one kit to the other, and to the bushes, before landing on the one who'd just awakened.
"No no, you answer first. I want to know who all of you are and why you're here, and then I have to decide what to do with the lot of you," she said crisply. Ears pricked forward and she was standing perfectly straight, her tail weaving slowly back and forth behind her. She was definitely going to need to find freshkill. Three newcomers was just getting a little out of hand given the recent catastrophe back at camp.

Moss padded tentatively out of the brambles, her ears back submissively. "Hello," she mewed, rocking back on her haunches. "I'm Moss!" She expected this greeting to be taken as informal, and prepared herself for a hiss of outrage. "I... um... I would like to join your Clan!" She felt awkward under the other cats' gazes, but realized that she would have to meet them bravely without flinching if she wanted even the slightest chance to join the others and fulfill Hawk's wish. "Er... Are you leader?"

Deepcreek switched her tail in greeting at Moss.
"No, that I am not. Kestrel is the leader, and she's at camp dealing with things. I am going to hunt, and take food back, because we need it," she answered the rogue. She stretched, pulling a million little kinks out of her muscles. For a moment, she considered taking these three with her. If they stayed clear out of the way, she could both hunt and take care of the situation with the three trespassers for the time being. She was wary of leading them anywhere near the camp, with the recent war. Deepcreek was a little paranoid about such things. They didn't smell like Boneclan, and she seriously doubted the amount of damage the two kits could do even if they were. Moss looked in no way like the kind of cat that would belong to Boneclan. But perhaps giving them a little bit of a run around first would not go amiss- if they acted at all suspicious, she could chase them off without ever letting them near the main camp.
"If you wish to speak with Kestrel, I can take you. But first I must hunt, and I'm not leaving the three of you here, for various reasons. You can either follow me and keep quiet while I get the clan some freshkill, or you can hightail it out of here," she said, having made up her mind. She shook her fur all back into place after another good stretch, and flicked her tail for the three to follow.

Moss nodded slightly. "I understand. We- or at least I am a stranger and an intruder in your territory. Perhaps I can help with the hunting?" She dropped into a practice hunters crouch, swishing her tail back and forward on the grass. Moss had practiced her crouch for the last few days, and felt that at last she had gotten it right- balanced and poised. She smirked inwardly and glanced up at Deepcreek, searching her eyes for approval. She felt like a kit, though she was now seven moons, and felt awkward trying to prove her worth to a cat she didn't even know, one who may turn her away in the end. "That is- if you don't mind!"

Deepcreek had to hide a smile at the enthusiastic newcomer. Still, she switched her tail in what might be approval.
"That's good, but keep your tail still, and you'll be harder to see. You may help, as long as you follow the rules- we take everything back to camp before we have anything to eat." she said, crouching down into her own hunter's stance. It was rare that she lost prey due to her own ineptitude. She could become completely still, and when creeping up on prey, moved so unobtrusively that she hardly ever attracted attention. Her main skill in life was stealth. She crept forward at a beetle that had trundled out of the grass, and pounced on it before letting it go.
She stood abruptly with a quick grin, and flicked her tail at the others to follow, should they wish. Before going back, she would be back around here to make sure anyone who didn't come with was long gone.

Moss jumped up, letting out a small purr, and bounced along behind her. Suddenly she froze. "Mouse," she whispered, before dropping down. There is was, beneath the roots of a nearby tree, nibbling on a seed. The mouse was upwind pf Moss, and hadn't smelled her yet. Slowly, Moss stalked forward, inching closer and closer to the small beating heart. It scented her at the last minute, but she pounced before it could escape. She bit it in the back of the neck to finish it off, then padded back to Deepcreek. Moss dropped it at her feet and looked up at her, eyes shining. "Where should I bury it?" she asked, her voice calm.

Deepcreek was quiet as Moss went after a mouse. When she came back, the warrior flicked her tail at a bush near the trail she routinely used to get back to camp. She made sure not to use the same trail for two long, to avoid giving anyone the path to camp, but this one was new.
"Under that bush, if you will," she said. When the mouse was buried, she stepped off into the bushes along the border, nose twitching and ears alert. Her mouth was open as if she was tasting the air as well. Her steps fell as quietly as petals from a rose.

Moss nodded and buried it beneath the thick brambles, feeling a flush of pride for a moment, but it was quickly sucked from her. Another scent- and it seemed as if Deepcreek didn't recognize it. Moss stiffened, and felt the hair of her spine raise. With an inward hiss, she forced her fur to lay flat. Deepcreek seemed more irritated than threatened. Moss took this as a semi-positive sign, and padded after the she-cat, wincing at the loud foot-falls her paws made.
Why couldn't she be a silent walker like the clan cat? Perhaps it would come with practice...

The small little kit ran after the one called Moss. Why'd they leave him behind? Then he saw her. She looked beautiful in her hunting crouch. Duh! She's hunting! Don't bother her! He thought. He crept up on her. Slowly paw by paw. Then he pounced. Right on Moss. "Hello! I'm Broken! that's B-er-oh-k-e-n." He rolled over on his back and laughed and yurned to the older cat. " Hey are you in rising Clan? Can I join?"

[Just to let you know, we've moved over to the other thread. I don't remember what it's called, but it's bound to be first or second in the list, and we're all there.]
