[whether it be beast or man] As he trudged home, his tail dragging through the wheatstalks, Bloodstar's eyes grew duller and duller, his steps growing sloppy and losing a real pattern.
He looked behind him, where Direpaw and Wickedpaw sat loyally. He looked at the apprentices, his kits, and sighed. They now didn't have a mother - not that they should care much. Sable would have taught them to not get sappy about anything, and frankly, Bloodstar agreed with his kits' mother's lessons. Others were among his ranks: Talonscar, Tormentpaw, Hexpaw, Dreamreaper. His two most trusted, and Wickedpaw and Direpaw's brothers.
"DuskClan."
As the leader looked around at his small Clan, his eyes regained some of their old…mischief, you might say. There weren't many still following him, but those who hadn't left or died were those he cared about most.
"We have lost many - including our deputy, Hawkclaw, and medicine cat, Styx. But we cannot let the strongest Clan in the valley die! DuskClan will live on."
Direpaw let out a yowl of agreement at her father's words, and jumped to her paws, while her brother Wickedpaw sat where he was, not flinching at his sister's sudden movement. He was used to it. After all, he did believe that all his littermates were a bit challenged, but that's just because he could be a condescending little brat sometimes.
Bloodstar nodded to his daughter, acknowledging her approval. He didn't need it, of course, but it was good to know cats cared.
