Coyote Listen close for the paths of your freedom Journey beyond rising sun Though never knowing where the road may end Will can carry you ever forward If only on the wings of faith
A blue-black she-cat loped steadily along beside her coyote brother, making sure that the ground-eating pace wasn’t too fast to lose their companions. Yellow eyes flicked back, towards the camp, sadness momentarily clouding her yellow eyes.
That little kit…poor thing.
She shook her head, slowing her pack so that she was beside Quint instead of Ivoryshard. After all, the coyote had the best nose here; he would have to lead the way to the fox’s den.
“Congrats on being accepted. I wish it was on better times though, save that of the loss of the kit.”
Coyotesummer did smile, slightly, her gaze flicking momentarily from her brother to Quint, then looking to Eclipsedopal.
“I suppose I better introduce myself. I’m Coyotesummer. That’s my brother up there, Ivoryshard.”

"Straighten up and fly right, kid."
Quint nodded, thinking of the kit. "Sileo defessus," he meowed, solemnly closing his eyes. He had learned that phrase from his grandfather; he had met that old cat only three times in his life, but each time he had learned something about life. The third time, he had learned about the end.
Then the calico opened his eyes and cheered visibly. "Thanks, Coyotesummer." He bared his teeth slightly, enjoying the thought of a challenge. It would be his first sense his fleeing from the city. "We'll get that fox, eh? You'll find no cat stealthier than me, and I assume your brother is a fine tracker."

Ivoryshard loped on ahead of his sister when she dropped back to talk to one of the other cats. Nose in the air, he sniffed for the fox, and modified his direction just the slightest bit. It was nearby- well, near enough. What Ivoryshard really wanted to do was go tearing off after it himself, but the others would be left out. And he didn't want to leave anyone out.
A high pitched crazy-coyote howl rose up to warn the fox there was death or injury on the wind. What use sneaking up? Foxes could smell him probably as easy as he could smell any fox.
And if it was a fox that hadn't injured the kits? Well, maybe they'd just chase it off. Like that many foxes could be in one territory anyway. Ha.Coyotes always sound totally INSANE to me when they howl.

The wind blew frost-bitten nips across the terra, chilling the occupants to the bone. The young dog fox shivered beneath his brightly crimson pelt. He was hungry... and cold, the meal that he had before hardly more then a snack. He licked his lips at that, smarting when his salmon pink tongue ran over the fresh cuts along his nose. The kits weren\'t the reason for the wounds, even though one of them, a tan bundle of wily fur, had left light scratches along his lips. He would have had her, too, if it wasn\'t for their mother returning so soon. She... Now she was a fierce one. Mother told him that cats were easy prey, as long as they were on their own, but she must have never met that black and white tabby. Even Mother would have thought better of attacking cats again... Even so... He pondered, tilting his head slighty as he walked with the wind... She was within the roots. I bet if she were out in the open... the dog fox stopped, seemingly aware of something that he couldn\'t seem to understand.
His sharp brown eyes glanced over his shoulder, the wind buffeting his fur, and down his ears, making him flatten his ears to avoid the unpleasant sensation of the wind howling in them. His nose twitch, which hurt his wounds, but there was something... His eyes widened, suddenly recognizing the smell. Coyote? Cats? And no fear-scent? There\'s something wrong with that... And then he knew, or saw, why his cousin and the cats were on such friendly terms. He gulped, then turned and fled... the hunt is on.

"Run fox run."Growlled Destniy. She yowlled a battle cry and ran after the fox,her eyes gleaming of killing the beast.(powerplaying sorry!)She lept in front of the fox hoping to knock it over.Grabbing it's ear in her jaw she crunched it.Swaping paws all over it's body her yowlled for some help.Jumping on it's back she bit down on both shoulders, leaving bloody scars. Her silver flute dangled and whipped around with all her moves. When she had tore it's ear, blood had landed on the flute making it tingle.

/Burned/
We've just missed him, Eclipsedopal said as she ran up to where the fox had once been. Maybe we could... Then fate intervened. The wind changed, and his scent was gone. Damn, she thought, frustrated that the fox had escaped, now how're we going to catch him? But wait; she might not smell the fox, but she smelled something else. Wait, she hissed t her huntmates. Dropping into her best rabbit-stalk, she crept through the grasses upon a little bunny. She wasn't hunting, though.
Eclipsed pounced on the rabbit, pinning it down with her claws sheathed, pinning it down with her weight.
Pfeffa! The rabbit whispered fearfully.
Pfeffa, indeed she said back. So, little Roo, she said in broken Lapine, we, my companions and I, need your help.
Wh-wh-why sh-should I he-elp yuh-yuh-you? An unexpected spurt of bravery! Opal was secretly pleased by the small thing's bearing.
Because we have a common eli. Homba, fox, yes? We need to hunt it down. Can you smell it, embleer? She thought that was the word for a fox's scent.
West. It went west, the rabbit replied, shaking as it's nerve slowly crumbled.
Thank you, little Roo, she said, and let the rabbit go. He seemed surprised.
Why would you let me go? And how do you know our language?
Just go, she said, and away it ran. She padded back to her Clanmates. It went west, she called, breaking into a lope. Run foxy, indeed.
By the opal eclipse OOC: Just chose west randomly. Is that O.K.? EDIT: Whoops, sorry, Ring posted before me.

"Straighten up and fly right, kid."
At her words, Quint shot off west, silent and swift as the blackbird.
The chase. A challenge, a revenge. Pure morals. "Sic narro plebis," he murmured, a sly grin on his face.
To kill a fox. Run, fox, run.

Coyote Let your heart guide you Hope is not so blind to you Though the perilous mist of doubt is thick Somewhere, dim light is shining In front of you, behind you Wherever you may be
Coyotesummer yowled in sheer rage at the scent of the fox, loping from Quint’s side in a crescent movement, seeking to possible cut the fox off while the others drove it. She ki’yid, the sharp sound different from the chirp she had used before, signifying her position to Ivoryshard and the others.
After all, one couldn’t live with ‘yotes and not expect to pick up a cry or two.

One of Ivoryshard's ears flicked sideways as the wind kicked up and blew the fox's scent away. He was frustrated in any attempt to find it, until the helpful Opal asked a rabbit. He followed along after Quint and Coyotesummer, moving in a crescent opposite his sister.
Running ahead of her on his side, he yipped back at her, letting her know where he was. If for some reason the cat got ahead of her, he'd be there to turn it back, and it would be caught between the cats and a coyote.

The wind was to his advantage, this he knew. He ran, his fox-like grace an asset now as he wove his way through thick thickets of thorns, up a felled tree held by one of it\'s brothers, and then down into a small stream. His black paws, now icy cold, raced upstream of the water, soaking his belly fur deep. He jumped on one side, then the other, making a trail, then back-tracking them. If they were just cats, he would have ambushed them by now, but he knew... an ancient instinct-like wisdom... that that coyote was on friendly terms with those cats... Cousins they may be, but Sharpwit wasn\'t about to find out if he could talk his way around a confrontation.
For a few more hundred yards, he followed the trail of the water, before he lept over a log-bridge, his tail fur lightly brushing it\'s surface, before he headed east, meaning to lose these critters before he became coyote lunch.

Coyote Running from somewhere to somewhere From nowhere to nowhere What truth are you seeking In the moon’s astral secrets That is not in front of your nose On this Mother beneath your paws?
You can’t escape.
A low growl.
A flash of fangs.
Coyotesummer was hot on the dog fox’s trail.
She knew it.
He did too.
But if the young fox thought such simple maneuvers, simple tricks, would fool the experienced huntress, fool the experienced coyote, he would be wrong.
Fatally.
Coyotesummer barely hesitated at the river; she plunged right into the icy water without so much as a blink.
Hunt…hunt…
She doubted much so that the fox would head downstream – the ridge cut off any means of escape there.
No. This fox wished to live.
Coyotesummer’s blood pulsed, as she turned to race through the water upstream, ki’yiding another time.
I’m coming for you…

Watching the fox run away Destniy followed it with her clan mates. I don't care If you want to live You killed a kit and you'll pay with YOUR life!Running after it on the tree branch she lunged.Missing its fluffy tail she snarled.Running faster she went to jump over it's head, only to slip on a branch and crumble in a pile as she slipped."Oof."Getting up she recoiled as she stepped on one food."I broke my foot!"She yelled.trying to stand up she found out that she had indeed."Man you are a lucky fox! if i had gotten you,you would be ribbions by now!"She yelled after the fleeing fox.
ooc:Yeah i made her break her foot, but the fox will die.

[ I'm stealing your wonderful pic-bar-thing idea, Umber<3 Tell me if you have a problem with that. ^^ ] Quint darted across the land, barely stirring a blade of grass. With painful exactness he worked his way around the terrain, keeping out of the wind, working his way frontwards. Finally, he ran with the wind to his face. He could smell the fox's scent strong now.
He slowed, slinking lowly, hidden. He was quieter than a fox. The calico tom managed to get close enough to that dog-fox the see the red fur. He was well riled up now. He awaited the others, so they could commence to killing the fox.

They were hot on his trail now. Ivoryshard heard his sister and followed her lead, gathering speed and leaping the majority of the stream. He landed in some of the cold water, maybe up to his chest, which surprised him, but he floundered the rest of the way to the shore. With another burst of speed, he raced well past his sister, and dodged sideways, taking his path directly in front of the dog-fox.
And he stood for a moment, panting, and waited for it in some long grass. Sure he heard it coming. His ears flipped forward at the sound and he raised his head.
"Little cousin," he grated as he stepped forth from his hiding grass. He moved to block the coyote's path, facing him head on in case he decided to try to dodge away or jump over or attack. Ivoryshard's eyes flicked to behind the fox- one of the other cats was there, but he didn't know the cat by scent yet. And Coyotesummer was around here somewhere, too. Ivoryshard didn't want the glory or anything, he was simply hoping to stop the fox. Sure, they could run for awhile longer, but he didn't want to risk it getting away. He just hoped the others would know he wasn't trying to steal their thunder.Kick me if you want me to make him just stay hidden in the bushes. Seriously, I totally mean it. I don't want to ruin any grand plans anyone had!

[ I'm stealing your wonderful pic-bar-thing idea, Umber<3 Tell me if you have a problem with that. ^^ ] Quint closed in behind the fox, moving so stealthily the animal couldn't possibly know he was there. He was a whisker's length away. He winked, in case Ivoryshard could see him now.

Coyote Do not deny What your heart, Though high in the fortress tower Calls to you with its sweet songs Of a forgotten heaven.
Fire fire, burning bright.
Coyotesummer was a blaze of blue-black fur, leaping through the stream to catch up to the others.
She didn’t care about stealth.
Oh no.
She stopped; the fox had been stopped by Ivoryshard.
A low growl, guttural, angry, escaped her pretty face.
Her head lowered, ears flattened as her tail lashed from side to side.
Her gait, the same stiff-legged one that coyotes used when they approached an adversary. [Pssk, I don't mind. XP]

OOC:hmmm... I wasn\'t actually planning on keeping the fox, but now I have an idea... either... sparing his life he performs an act (which I have yet to fully imagine... thinking along the lines of helping in this uncoming war) OR he is killed, and we can have the surrounding foxes in an uproar at his death.
The young dog fox came to a skidding halt, his bush of a tail protecting the sensitive belly as he came upon the intruding coyote. Glaring yellow eyes traced the surrounding foliage, searching for the one thing that could help him in an outnumbering fight such as this. White muzzle, scratched horrendously from the she-cat, tilted just slightly, protecting the throat, while maintaining a poised air. \"Cousin. Why do you chase me so, with a pack that is not of your own kind?\" He asked, a bit of fear warbling the words, but otherwise remaining cooly collect. His ears twisted, catching the distinct kitty growl in mimicry to the coyote\'s deeper one. He kept his eyes glued on the coyote, for it was he that he feared the most.
Then with a flash of red and black, the fox made a dash for it, leaping from side to side, avoiding teeth he knew wouldn\'t be too far behind. He didn\'t stop until he buried his crimson fur in a thicket of thorns to dense and dangerous for a coyote\'s larger body, but not so for any cat\'s.
