~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Batpaw slunk through the grass at the edge of Boneclan.She glanced around,seeing if anyone was there.She rose silently,as if she was not there.everything ignored her.She scowled.But then again,why would she care?It was good that everyone ignored her.It gave her power.Silent power.She didn't have to care,have feelings.And that was neccesary if Batpaw was to keep her promise to herself.
The rust-colored she-cat grunted with the effort of deciding to join or not.She was doing something drastic.Not only was she risking ruining her promise,but she was making a commitment to protect someone.Batpaw sighed again and lay down,large ears pricked for any movement.
"Having trouble?"
The voice snakes through the grass, followed closely by the sleek obsidian form of him. The King of these lands. His single green eye kept firm upon the young she-cat, obviously having trouble deciding upon something. Confusing, really, as why would she travel this way, realise where the boundaries were and then question her reasoning for being there?
"Here, let me make it easier for you-"
Bane made a slowly step forward, his claws glistening in the faint light, along with that single white orb.
"-if you decide against joining my clan, I'm afraid I'll have to kill you. It's not often that cats outside of my clan manage to so easily find the boundaries - I couldn't let such information leak out to the other clans now, could I?"
Batpaw narrowed her eyes at the tom that approached her.She was slightly surprised at his sudden coming.She nodded. "I'll join you then.I'm not enough of a fool to challenge you." Batpaw's tone was traced with slight suspicion.What did he mean by information leaking out?Was he hiding something important?The red she-cat rose slowly to her feet,still looking at the tom. "Bane,I assume.I've heard of you." She slowly crept past him,eyes staying on his back at all times.She would not risk her chances. "By the way,I've been named Batpaw.Pleased to make your acquaintence."
A small nod of the head was all Bane did at the word of his name. It made him glad to know this cat knew it, despite Bane having had no idea who she was.
"Greetings, Batpaw. Tell me, how skilled are you a warrior?"
For that was all that currently went through Banes mind. Importance was on gaining more assassins and warriors to join the ranks in the upcoming battle. He could indeed find a suitable mentor to train this young one, for there were many, many skilled assassins within his ranks.
Batpaw slowed to a stop,and turned around.Apparantly this was going to take longer than she thought. "I've been trained quite well.Since I was barely a moon.But It's been long since,and I don't complete them as well as I used to." The apprentice sat,waiting for the next question of the survey.Batpaw twitched the tip of her tail,impatient to get to the camp.To her,this was being annoying.She never asked questions,and rarely recieved any.
Bane gave nothing in response, not even a short nod. His expression was as unreadable as ever. He didn't plan to keep the she-cat forever, but he wanted to know how many apprentices would need mentors.
"Very well, Batpaw. I shall organise a mentor for you, one of the best as always."
He gave a small grin, before standing. His true height was rather large, yet his body remained sleek. Still, the amount of strength he carried was far past any ordinary tom. He turned, and with a flick of his tail signalled for the newcomer to follow.
"Come, I shall introduce you to the clan."
Batpaw nodded and padded along with her new leader.She would have to make sure that she didn't befriend anyone here.Ha!Like that would happen.Cats in this clan were probably murderous and solitary.Like her.But still,she needed to keep her wall up.Batpaw could let no one break down her wall.If she did,she would be turned against.Stabbed in the back.Betrayed.Traitored! Calm down,Batpaw. The apprentice sighed and looked back up,straigtening her face once more into the unreadable expression that always danced across her face.She quickened her steps until she came almost next to Bane.
