With all the grain of Babylon To cultivate to make us strong And hidden here behind the walls Are shoulders wide and timber on Until the war came__x
Through the undergrowth... a hidden shadow. Should it be alive? Most likely not. Yet here it was, a sleek, and beautiful creature. A strong, yet heartbroken monster. Was that was he was? A monster. Demon. Why had he had to do this? What was fair about the suffering of a poor, innocent creature? Yet the emotional trauma that dwelled within his mind came to nothing; his face was a look of stone, his image that of perfection. Nothing could ever make this shadow break.
Cats? Cats, he could smell cats. Was it real? Cats outside of the city? Suddenly Meloy felt fear - he had gone two years without talking to another living thing, the only company he had ever had were mice, which soon became his dinner. Yet his face remained stationary - fear was a sign of weakness, and weakness was something Meloy had not... or wanted to have not.
He was unable to move any further - or rather, unwilling. The fear rose, wondering... was he here? Would he be able to find Meloy here? At this the tom lowered his tortie head, as if expecting him to be spying from above. He was wanted dead, and how well he knew it.
But if it wasn't him... if these were other cats, kind, caring, who knew not of Meloy and the curse that hung over his head. A small smile forced it's way onto the tom's usual rigid expression. The tortie sat, limbs stiff so as to lead to a quick getaway should he be here, his single vivid yellow orb keen, ears picking up the slightest sound - of a bird, of a cricket in the grass, the sound of a cloud moving.
Waiting, for what would be the beginning of the end - or is it his end?
x__A terrible autonomy Is grafted onto you and me A trust put in the government Is all their lies are heaven sent Until the war came

Dust was part of RisingClan's way; dust and courage, as inherent to this vast piece of land as the savannah-grass was; as the horizon-defining hulks of the hills were; as the squat trees twisting toward the sky was. It was a place that seemed both hospitible and fierce, both rigid and flexible, an adamant world beneath a fierce blue sky that seemed bigger than most skies had right to be.
Far, far above, etched against the blue, was the sharp shape of a falcon. Far, far below, a cat roamed.
The she-cat had sharp eyes. They were mismatched eyes; one brilliant, electric yellow, the other cool blue. An implacable light burned within them-- an intensity not unlike that of a hawk's gaze. She caught the faintest suggestion of movement in the long grass, and, drawn their by curiosity and duty, made her way silently forward. There was strength in her slim form; she was built more for speed and strength, though her paws hid wicked claws that were longer and sharper than most. Her white fur, splotched randomly with gray, should have given her away; but she knew well the contours of her land and moved with silent confidence. She was not afraid, and why would she be? This was her domain, and she ruled over it with a steady hand.
The wind ruffled her fur at her back, and she could not scent the outsider until she drew close. From that point, she tracked him more boldly and certainly, and when she felt sure she was within earshot -and most definately of sight- to the newcomer, she spoke.
"Newcomer. What business have you here?"

Cat. Female Cat. Meloy was quick to notice the signs of a presence, and so it came of no real shock when the she-cat let her voice glide across the meadow. Meloy remained turned away from her, using his nose to detect signs of authority, signs that he had not yet poisoned this land. She... she was leader. The scent markers had proven that. She had no scent of him upon her... but nothing was too certain. The Coon slowly turned his head, his single orb observing the she-cat with an untrusting manner - a manner that showed him for the broken cat he was.
"...Bane... you know him?"
Meloy spoke, his voice melodical yet gruff with many tainted seasons. It told a story within his musical tune, yet a story you wouldn't allow your kit to listen. A man of many words was Meloy - too many was a danger, too many and you let the enemy see your weaknesses. You end up talking of nonsense, until something... no matter how tiny... something lets slip. He turned slowly, revealing his right eye, so bitterly torn and ruined, those scars the handy work of he himself... yet Meloy had not let it go unpunished. An eye for an eye... literally. Limbs were held stiff, claws retracting slowly - and his single eye searched for any sign of that dreaded tom.

The look on the monarch's face should have been enough for Meloy.
Her eyes grew narrow, a fierce bright fire igniting within them. Holy fire.
Kestrel; the avenging angel. "Know him?" Her voice was a low hiss, monotone.
Her claws slid out, and they were like razors. Long, so sharp the point could scarcely be seen. Her teeth clicked together as she spoke, eyes flashing like lightening in stormy skies; "I know him. I have seen him and spoken to him. I know him well."
Partly by reputation, for word of his actions travel far across the Meadow.
There was a great strength in the she-cat's eyes, as well as terrible anger.

That look.... that monotone hiss. Meloy's ears flattened, feeling the hatred falling around the she-cat at just a mention of the tom's name. From that, Meloy knew he was not to hate this she-cat. Yet liking her was another issue, trusting her several issues more.
"Where is he? How do you know him? Tell me all you know."
It was a daring thing, to demand she tell him. Yet a hunger, a need to know flared within his single orb, whilst his other, completely blinded by the claws of Bane himself, stung as the overwhelming fear began to crawl through Meloy's tortoiseshell body. So he was here....somewhere in this area. That alone frightened Meloy, yet not as much as it made him hopeful.... hopeful that revenge was possible, for he had finally found a cat, and one who knew BloodClan's heir.

"He is my enemy," Kestrel meowed, her eyes flashing. "He leads BoneClan, a Clan of bloodthirsty killers and torturers, of rapists and cannibals. Once upon a time, I sought to keep peace between BoneClan and my own Clan, but as time passed, and more and more of their terrible deeds came to light, I realized that I must break my promise." Kestrel's sharp eyes turned to the horizon, seeking familliar landmarks; StoneClan, StealthClan...BoneClan. "It began with an act of agression-- my Clan stole a kit. One of the first litter born to a pair of Boneclanners, a she-kit called Soulless. Soulless is my apprentice now. BoneClan was, needless to say...angry."
She remembered the confrontation well...word for word, as it was.
She paced slightly as she spoke, her voice strong, driving. "RisingClan is strong now." The monarch of RisingClan turned to look directly at Meloy, her mismatched eyes blazing with a steady intensity. "Soon...we go to war."

BoneClan. Of course. Meloy listened intently, his single orb staring into deep space, yet fire burnt within, a fire at what this she-cat said. The large tortie slowly sat, fur bristling so as to make the scars that scattered his body much more visible. Bane had made many an enemy in his time, yet so had Scourge. No doubt the tom was strong, but was he strong enough? As the she-cat, leader of RisingClan ended, Meloy returned his single-eyed gaze back onto her, burning with a fire, a passion to fight in this war.
"Then I fight too... with you?"
As I said, not many words would you get out of dear Meloy, his old self destroyed by the hatred and pain he had felt throughout his years. Yet he had been moulded into a better cat - although his father may not be proud of him, Meloy was proud of himself. Yet he still hid his past... he was reluctant to tell of his reasons for knowing the cold-blooded killer, and just how well he knew him. Meloy had seen Bane grow up, seen him go through his adolescant years.... always the bully, always the perfect son that Scourge could ever ask for. Envied by all the adolescants of BloodClan. Once even Meloy had envied him... yet Meloy knew Bane's weaknesses. He knew what made Bane angry, what poked holes in his perfect front of calmness. That sort of knowledge.... was such that daren't go wasted.

"Yes. We would be glad to have you." Kestrel showed no hesiation at all. This cat obviously hated Bane...and the enemy of an enemy was a friend, so some said.
And so Meloy became a RisingClan warrior, just like that.
But Kestrel -whatever Bane and his warriors may think- was an intelligent cat. She looked keenly at Meloy, curiosity in her gaze. "You knew Bane before," she meowed. "Tell me...all cats have weaknesses...he is no different..." Her voice had lowered to a mutter, half to herself. But she continued to watch Meloy. She would not force him to divulge where he had met Bane, and how he knew the things he knew, but... "Bane's weaknesses are vital information that may mean an end-- a faster end, to this imposing war."

ooc| This is where I change their history again xD I keep on thinking of cool plot twists for it.
So it would not be so easy as that... Meloy allowed his lip to curl, his eye to slit and the fur upon his tortoiseshell back to bristle. Yet the large tom attempted to control the fear... the rage... he lowered his lip, and moved his gaze to stare at the ground, as interesting as it was.
Meloy knew not whether any of DeathClan or BloodClan still existed apart from himself and Bane. Being a warrior underneath this she-cat... Meloy felt he owed her the information he carried. And yet, he also wished such information was non-existant, or atleast that Meloy wasn't the one to carry it. The tom slowly drew breath, yet his single gaze remained upon the floor.
"We.... we were born as rivals. He was heir of BloodClan, son of Scourge. I.... son of Bullet, DeathClan's formidable leader. My father... was Scourge's brother. Bane and I... cousins, I dare admit. Yet we were not a happy family."
Meloy slowly turned his gaze to Kestrel. It had bitten him hard just to say so many words, to admit that he and Bane were infact related. His gaze stayed as it was for many a moments, as Meloy attempted to think of how it was best to describe it. He sighed silently, then turned his gaze away.
"We had been threatening their streets, and as Bane grew stronger so did I. Both Bullet and Scourge grew weaker, and it was seen that it would be Bane and myself who would lead the great battle all the ferals of the city were talking about. I was stronger than him, a better leader they all said."
Another pause. Meloy hissed to himself, his fur bristling once more.
"My father died, and as BloodClan's attempt to take over the forest failed, Bane and I became leaders, an army of assassins following each of us. I planned DeathClan's raid for the day after Scourge's death - they were weak, but the challenge was still a difficult one. DeathClan killed many... only a few of us fell - my deputy, Savage was but one of them. I sought out Bane himself at this point, and it was then that I saw..."
Meloy suddenly became frantic - his gaze lifted, pupils wide and ears pinned to his head.
"You... must promise not to tell anyone of what I am about to tell you. Not even the rest of your clan.... I would be killed for what I know, and I wish not the same threat upon you and your clan."

Meloy kept his single-eyed gaze upon Kestrel, before he closed it and let out a silent sigh. When they re-opened his gaze became fixed on a branch that lay rotting upon the ground.
"I have reason to believe it's schizophrenia, or some mental illness of the sort. When I saw him that night he was... convulsing. It was disturbing needless to say... like he was fighting with his mind. When he realised I was there... the look in his eyes, was unreal."
The tortoiseshell remained staring for a moment longer, before with a short hiss he shook his head and returned to the real world. He returned his gaze to Kestrel, allowing a small, rather unconvincing smile to crawl across his features.
"He killed all that I held dearly. And so I fight."
At the word fight, Meloy felt sudden hope. His chest lifted, and his smile became more convincing. Suddenly, the large tom realised that certain formalities had been left unsaid.
"I am Meloy. And you are..?"

Now Kestrel closed her eyes, and stood that way for a short while. When she opened them, there was a deep satisfaction in her mismatched gaze. "So...he is not as perfect as he seems..." Kestrel's voice seemed distant. Thoughts and plans of war flitted through her mind, each demanding attention. When she returned to camp, she would retire immediately to her den to think what she had learned over.
But not now. Bowing her head in greeting, Kestrel meowed, "Welcome to RisingClan, Meloy. I am Kestrel, leader."
The news Meloy had given her had gone a long way to easing her doubts, and she seemed happier than she had in a long time. "We will win the war," she said softly, not just confident but sure. "I have gathered an alliance with four other Clans, and now you have given me possibly the more important information of all-- Bane's key weakness." She bowed her head again, in deepest thanks. She wasn't yet sure how this information would help, but it was a weakness; that was enough for Kestrel.
