Gracia stepped onto the reddish-brown, savannah-like plain and a smirk turned up the corners of her lips. Where was this? She had no idea. Would it be her home for the rest of her life? She had no idea. Deciding to call for some one, perhaps the leader of a Clan who lived here? - she stood defiantly.
"¿Hola?" she yowled confidently. "¿Dónde estoy yo?" She had no idea that the cats residing here knew not Spanish; she had no idea that the cats residing here knew not who this beautiful calico she-cat was. She had no idea that this was the turf of RisingClan, and that she may not be welcomed here.
All she knew was that this would be her home for the rest of her life. All she knew was that this would be the adventure of a lifetime.
A mouse scuffled onto her head, and his scent soothed Gracia. Her translator mouse, Poco! He knew both Spanish and English, as well as many other languages like German, Japanese, French. He could speak in the cats' versions of these languages as well as mouse-speak Spanish, English, German, Japanese, French, and more. As Gracia had found it hard to speak to other cats in their languages, Poco had come along and helped her. Now she may need him more than ever.

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel enjoyed languages. They intruiged her.
She spoke only one, and only fairly fluently at that. Japanese, and where she had learned it she did not know.
What she did know was that learning Spanish might be a good thing, seeing as there was a Spanish-speaking cat on her land.
When the she-cat's confident yowl shattered the early-morning tranquility, Kestrel's first reaction had been to lift her head, glance around, and meow, "Konnichiha?"
Not a usual reaction, actually. But Kestrel was in an odd mood this morning. She had been brushing up on her Japanese for the hell of it, so her mind was on a...default setting.
She trotted through the scrub brush and stepped into view of the newcomer, her pretty face composed. "Maro ko hataraku korede?" she muttered in broken Japanese. Realizing that this she-cat could not understand Kestrel's botched Japanese, she repeated in English, "What business have you here?"
But maybe the she-cat did not understand English either.

Hm?
Another cat?
Gracia turned to face a pretty she-cat, her mismatched eyes staring into the calico's. The gray and white she-cat's electric yellow eye was almost hypnotizing, while her cool blue eye on the other side was soothing.
But the calico she-cat didn't understand what the other was saying until Poco whispered into her ear the translation: '¿Qué negocio le tiene aquí?' Her eyes brightened and she let out a little 'Ah!' gasp of understanding.
"¿Es usted un líder de un Clan? ¿Puedo unir yo?" Gracia purred loudly. Noticing the other she-cat didn't understand, she twitched the ear that Poco was leaning on. The little brown mouse immediately jumped up and slid onto the bridge of his kitty's nose, almost sliding off but keeping his balance.
"She'd like to know if you are a leader of a Clan, and if she could join," Poco explained, looking evenly into the mismatched eyes of a creature that would usually kill him instantly for food. But he was with Gracia, so obviously the other cat thought this was a bit too strange to leap upon the brown field mouse.

Had Kestrel had eyebrows, she would have raised them, but since she did not, she settled for arranging her face into the expression that usually accompanies raised eyebrows. That was all the shock she showed at the arrival of the mouse. A mere switch of expression.
How interesting, a part of her purred.
"You are her translator?"
Kestrel repeated her words carefully to herself in broken Japanese, practicing. Starclan know why she should brush the dust off this old skill...but there must be some reason. And as this she-cat showed, knowing languages could be useful.
Maro yakusha?
Kestrel paused for a moment, then added, speaking directly to the mouse, "What are your names? Also, tell her that if she wishes to join my Clan, she may."
She nodded her head in greeting to them both, feeling unusually muddled. "I am Kestrel, leader of RisingClan."

Poco nodded. "Yes, I am her translator." Leaping off of Gracia's nose and turning to her, her told her what Kestrel had said in Spanish. "Esto es Kestrel. Podemos unir su RisingClan, y ella quiere saber nuestros nombres." Gracia nodded, slowly at first, then quite enthusiastically.
"¡Soy Gracia, y esto son Poco, mi ratón!" the pretty calico meowed in her mother tongue. Realizing once more that Kestrel didn't understand Spanish, she looked curiously down at Poco, tipping her head to the side.
"She says that her name is Gracia, and I am Poco, her..." he winced playfully as he translated what Gracia had said, "...her mouse. Although I am not owned by her!" He turned back to the Spanish cat. "¡Usted no me posee, tonto!"
Gracia let out a little giggle, and lightly - very lightly, so as not to knock him off his feet - cuffed Poco on the head. Of course she knew she didn't 'own' him! They were just best friends, since she had been a young kit being taunted by English speaking rogues.
ooc; Sorry I took so long. I was eating dinner and I hadn't finished the post.

Kestrel nodded, her fierce gaze softening. "I can see that," she meowed. "Greetings, Gracia and Poco."
She lifted her head grandly, pride showing on her pretty face.
Maro nozomi tomaru korede? she thought. "Do you wish to stay here?" she said. "I would, of course, have to speak to me Clan about not eating Poco here..."
Maro jishou, mochiron, hanashi tsuki waga keibatsu yaku kessh*te kuchi ni Poco korede.
She chuckled softly, thinking of a mouse in her Clan. Well, all sorts are welcome... she thought blandly.

"¿Desea usted permanecer aquí? Hago, por supuesto, tiene que hablar conmigo el Clan acerca de no comer Poco aquí..." Poco squeaked to Gracia. The calico she-cat laughed. Poco? Eaten? She would be nowhere without Poco! It would cause her great grief if he was eaten. Poco knew exactly what her emotions were by her expression - not worried or scared, just amused by the thought of him not being there. Not amused in a cruel way; amused in a way that she'd be laughing at herself.
"Sí, Poco no se debe comer. ¡Gracias, Kestrel!" Gracia meowed, and Poco translated: "She says I mustn't be eaten, and she also says thank you. First Spanish lesson of the day - 'gracias' means 'thank you.'" He smiled up at Kestrel, not feeling nervous one bit.
"Sí, querríamos permanecer, complacer," Gracia meowed suddenly. Poco turned to the calico she-cat, then back to the leader of RisingClan. "She says yes; we'd like to stay." The little brown field mouse scuffled away behind Gracia, and her tail lowered to the ground. He climbed up and ran along her back, then climbed her neck so he could sit upon her head.

"It is hidden,"
Kestrel said sharply. She stepped forward, gesturing for the others to join her. "You see, if a cat were to run past the peak of this hill, they would find themselves suddenly flying off a cliff and breaking bones, maybe even dying. But if a cat were to stop and look down, they would be looking directly into camp. But if they looked ahead..." Kestrel's voice turned sly. "There is no camp."She began walking, her smooth, sliding gait lending her both grace and purposeful speed. "It is the perfect defense," she explained. "Approaching the camp from this angle will lead you to a dangerous cliff. The other side of camp is defended by massive boulders and thickets of bramble." She glanced at Gracia and Poco, making sure they were listening. "There is only one way in...the main entrance, between the large boulders; but there is a secondary, and much tighter entrance. A narrow crack formed by rainwater lays somewhere near here. Slipping into that crack -a difficult feat even if one could find it- would take you directly to camp."Kestrel turned her face pridefully to the wind. "A well-protected Clan, Gracia and Poco. If you follow, I will lead you there."I'm alive[/s]

"¿...Qué?" Gracia mewed to Poco in a low voice. Poco chuckled; Gracia could feel him vibrating on her head. They followed Kestrel as she led the way and Poco explained. "Si cualquiera trata de matarme o me come, Kestrel los castigará bastante mal," he squeaked. The calico she-cat nodded, and Poco almost rolled onto her back. He let out a terrified squeak, and Gracia immediately stopped nodding and couldn't supress a giggle.
The pretty calico she-cat craned her neck to see around Kestrel, but she couldn't see a camp. Perhaps it was well-hidden? "¿Dónde está este campo, Kestrel?" She knew Kestrel wouldn't understand, so she bounced her head to alert Poco that he needed to translate. "¿Qué?" Poco grunted irritably; he hadn't been listening. "¿Dónde está este campo?" Gracia repeated, frustrated. Poco nodded, and spoke loudly to Kestrel: "Where is camp? Gracia does not see it, and frankly, neither do I."

"¡Sí!" Gracia meowed confidently. But she didn't like not knowing any English at all...she turned to her little brown field mouse, Poco, who had just leaped off of her head to peer over the edge of the cliff. "¿Qué es 'sí' en inglés?" she whispered to him. Poco glanced up at the calico, then back down. "'Yes', Gracia," he said. "Say it: yes." She repeated, her Spanish accent barely audible at the one-syllible word, then scooped Poco up with her tail and put him on her head to follow Kestrel.
ooc; Ehm, shall I just head over to Life in RisingClan or whatever it's called? X3 Is that like, a general thread for RisingClanners? -And yes, I realize my post is short |D
