You'll never take me alive
Kestrel padded through her camp, her head held high. She walked with the grace and authority of a leader, but also with a quiet sort of elegance; she was not an arrogant cat. She did not proclaim her mastery over her land.
She [hopefully] led Chasm through the camp, aware that the cats here -not many, but certainly a lot by his standards, or so she guessed- may make Chasm nervous. Very well. This was his home. He needed to understand this.
Kestrel's love for her Clan showed clearly on her face as she sat in the center of camp, halfway in the shadow of the great stone boulders behind her. Boulders on one side, stone walls on the others. RisingClan was quite the well-protected camp.
"The free cats of RisingClan," she murmured, her mismatched eyes warm.

I can see the pain in you I can see the love in you but fighting all the demons will take time it will take time
if I was to give in - give it up - and then take a breath - make it deep cause it might be the last one you get be the last one that could make us cold you know that they could make us cold I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold...
Chasm followed Kestrel into the RisingClan camp. The thick stone walls were strong and protective, but after living seven years in a twoleg nest...they made him feel supressed. He wanted to see the sky and the trees, to know that this was his home and the twolegs would never again take him into their places.
"Kestrel..." he said quietly. "Would you perhaps introduce me...I am rather lacking in social graces..." He shivered a little, his insecurities seeming to thin his very pelt and let in the chill. It was true that he was polite, for fear of angering her, but everything else was foreign to him. If someone asked him at that very moment to start a conversation, it would have been like asking him to speak to a twoleg.

yay for crap posts ^^;
You'll never take me alive
Kestrel glanced at Chasm, her eyes kind and sympathetic. "I'll show you around first," she meowed. Then she began a long and in-depth ((which I am too lazy to type)) description of each RisingClan location both in camp and out, a description of the heiarchy of the Clans, named the areas that marked the borders, and related the history of the Clan. When she was finished, was silent for a short while.
Suddenly, she meowed, "If you are uncomfortable here, you don't have to stay in camp. This land is yours now-- everything inside the boundries is your land. You don't have to talk to anyone until you feel comfortable."

I didn't choose to be different... I didn't ask for the life I was given... What I do ask for...is a second chance...
Chasm shifted a little, overwhelmed by all of the things she had just told him. He stared around at the camp in awe, wondering just what had prompted these cats to take it upon themselves to form a clan. Was it instinct for cats to live together...? He didn't know, he'd never been allowed to be a cat.
"I understand...this is a little...too familiar..." he said, looking at his paws. "I don't like feeling confined...but I suppose I will get used to it..." His maw opened in a huge yawn, showing sharp white fangs. "I'd like to explore the territory better...but for now...may I sleep?" Misty gray hues locked onto Kestrel's mismatched ones. There was a pleading look in them, but the tom still retained his dominating stature all the same.

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel flicked her tail rather carelessly at her surroundings. "Feel free to sleep when and where you want to."
She padded around Chasm in a semicircle, intending to return to her own den, but stopped and said something slightly strange. "Do what you want." She had a distant, memory-touched expression on her face, and she spoke with a kind of deep significance, but even she did not know why. She had no past.
"Is having a dark past better than having no past at all?" she mused aloud, a small frown on her face. Her words may or may not have reached Chasm's ears, but she seemed to be adressing everyone and no one at once.

The wounds to my body have healed...but the wounds to my soul leave irreversible scars...
Chasm's highly-tuned ears caught every word. He laid himself down on a thick bed of brambles, softened slightly by the young moss that grew on it. He peered after Kestrel, watching her mottled gray and white fur swish to and fro with the muscles that bulged under her skin.
"That is a question that I cannot answer..." he said, somberly. Then he rested his head on his paws and fell into an uneasy sleep.

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel wandered away. She tried to sleep, but her mind was restless.
She returned, and stood beside Chasm with a thoughtful sort of look on her calm face. She decided that no past was better.
"You aren't going to sleep in the middle of camp all the time, are you?" she asked, her voice sudden in the quiet that had recently ensued. She sounded amused, her tone light. Her tail twitched. Her body was thrumming with energy; she needed to run, to converse with the winds, to fly.

If you knew the real me...would you still want me?
Chasm lifted his head groggily and fixed his gray hues on the form in front of him. Instantly sighting the mismatched orbs of his leader, he stood swiftly, stumbling a little in fatigue.
"I'm sorry...I should've asked you if anything needed to be done before I dozed off..." he said, shaking his fur out to rouse himself.

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel shook her head. "Nonesense," she meowed briskly. "I may be leader, but I am capible of handling tasks myself, and I have a whole Clan to help me. This has been a milestone day for you. Sleep all you want; I merely suggest that you move to a den or a sheltered location of some kind."
She hopped forward and began pacing, looking somehow both jittery and graceful. Her white paws flashed; her multicolored eyes flashed; the sunlight flashed. The world was a bright place, and Kestrel was happy to be in it. And even as she spoke, she was concious of the distant howl of the wind across the hills.

I know one thing all creatures have in common...the need to be free...
Chasm watched his leader pace back and forth. Her delicate paws were weaving a tred in the ground. His gray eyes were intent on her face, patiently focused on her ever changing features. Realization came to him suddenly. He stepped up to her and titled his head slightly, awkwardly asking for attention.
"Kestrel...do your paws itch to run?" he asked, almost as if he'd read her mind based on her actions.

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel tilted her head down, so her slanted eyes appeared shadowed. "Always," she meowed simply.
Then she lifted her head, almost defiantly -though to what, no cat could be sure- and the sun sparked in her fierce multicolored eyes. "RisingClan is an open place; this camp is the only shelter to be found. The sky touches the earth here. It is a place in which you can seek freedom; flying? It can be done." Her voice was ringing. There was a distantly wild look in her eyes.

If only you could see...what your acceptance means to me...
Chasm looked at Kestrel's fierce gaze and sighed slightly. That inner wildness could both ruin and strengthen a cat. He came up beside her and in a strange gesture for one of such solitude, he brushed his shoulder against hers. Feeling like her need to fly was a secret, he leaned close to her ear and whispered, nervously, "I will join you in your flight...if you will allow me..."

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel turned, looked back over her shoulder. "Birds fly in flocks, do they not?" she meowed, her voice somehow both somber and humorous, a trick she alone of her family was able to muster.
She knew this instinctively, though she had never known her family.
She had never been joined on one of her runs, but she was open-minded. Maybe company would be better; if not, then it did not matter. It would be no real loss.

Was this the way it was meant to be...?
Chasm nodded at his leader. He wasn't sure what had prompted him to even offer, considering his awfully aloof demeanor. Looking at her tense muscles, he could tell she didn't want to wait for him to get comfortable. Not wanting to dsiplease her on his very first day, he backed off a few paces and flicked his tail.
"Lead the way then..." was all he said.

Tell me what the wind says...
Chasm kicked into a run and raced after his leader. He didn't know how long she could run, but it was probably longer than him. She seemed built as light as a bird and her gray and white body was a blur out in front of him. Hoping his stamina would keep him in the game for a short while at least, he picked up speed until he was running beside her.
