An uneasy peace exists between WinterClan, AutumnClan, SpringClan and SummerClan. The Clan’s territories, in light of the torrid summer heat, have taken a turn toward the generally dry and barren, leaving the Clans troubled and hungry. The continual lack of food often leads to territorial skirmishes; cats are suffering, dying and desperate. But there are far greater problems than the shortage of freshkill...
SummerClan suffers to a greater degree than its neighbors in regard to lack of nourishment, already constrained to dwell in a dusty, near-uninhabitable terra. The Clan’s Leader, desperate and half-starved has taken to recklessly sending invaders to procure food from opposing Clans’ territories, causing further destruction as the Clans respond in turn.
Meanwhile, near the mountains, Loststar is combating the ever-increasing problem of missing kittens and cats. It seems that nearly every day some cat has gone missing, often never to be seen again. Such a fate is preferable to the rare discovery of a mangled body, torn and gnawed viciously and often beyond recognition. It seems, amid the already present chaos, a new threat has arisen. A terrible, merciless foe stalks the forest. A scent lingers about the recovered dead, vaguely feline but noticeably different, more sinister.
AutumnClan, SpringClan and SummerClan kits are disappearing as well, the captor seems to be expanding its sinister territory forcing the Clans, despite the signs, to blame each other. Fights and raids continue to become more prevalent.
What in StarClan's name is this monster? Who can hope to quell its bloody rage?
The blind WinterClan Leader is unwilling to allow such happenings to remain a mystery, together with an AutumnClan she-cat he embarks on an illicit journey to uncover the whereabouts of the terrible beast, against the better opinions of both WinterClan and, to Loststar’s intense agony, his own sister.
StarClan, however, seems pleased with the alliance and sends many a sign and aid to the duo, guiding and directing their perilous search.
