(I believe I promised a long time ago Nightshade would go to Risingclan. So…here he is!)
Momma, there’s a monster in my closet. Dear, there’s no such thing as monsters. You’re wrong momma. He’s right there.
There was a monster on the borders of Risingclan. A beast of a tom, large and powerful. Wisdom and strength radiated off his Turkish Van pelt, white offset by red markings on his ears and rather fluffy tail.
He sat, silently. Seeking. Deadnight had told him, long ago, that this was the place where he was heading.
Risingclan. Nightshade was not a murderer, and, even if he did kill (which he did) there was always a purpose behind it.
Well. Not always. But that cat was gone.
There are such things as monsters.

You'll never take me alive
That cat on the borders was large, stronger than Kestrel, but she feared no monsters.
She had walked from the shadows into the light as a kitten and had feared little ever since.
Anyway, Kestrel was one of the fastest, if not the fastest cat in the valley. There was no way such a tom could contend with her speed.
She she padded boldly into view, her fierce mismatched eyes bright like stars in the winter dark.
"Hello, cat," she meowed cooly. "What business have you here?"
Monsters are not the worst things that may hide in the shadows of your closet~

There was no way he’d be able to keep up with her. But why would Nightshade try? He wasn’t here to fight her, or any cat in her clan y’know.
“An old friend told me once that he’d planned to join this clan. And, when I was done with my life elsewhere, that I should come as well.”
It was true he didn’t mean any hard. Nightshade grinned at that memory though.
“Of course, I think he thought cucumbers grew here and that was the purpose for him coming here.”
Worse things like dirty gym socks?

Kestrel stared baldly at the cat for a moment, her mismatched gaze piercing...and then she tipped her head back and laughed.
"Deadnight!" she chortled, not without affection. "That sounds like him. Crazy tom." she muttered the last bit, shaking her head.
Lifting from her admittedly brief reverie, she turned to the newcomer. "Well, if you wish to join RisingClan, you would be welcomed. If you have business elsewhere, you will be given safe passage; but either way, how about stopping by to visit your old friend?" Her voice was marginally more friendly. She was, suddenly as the sun surfaces in a sea of cloud, in a good mood.
Yes, dear, things like dirty gym socks~

“It’s good to hear he made it here in one piece. Trouble used to follow that tom like flies after crowfood.” Nightshade joined in her laughter, then continued. “Or maybe it just followed me and got side-tracked. We were once good buddies.”
There was a story there. Memories of days long passed.
“He wasn’t always like that, y’know.”
Nightshade dropped the words, was if his duty to tell her? Well, maybe, Deadnight wasn’t exactly sane enough to do so.
“Then again, being tortured like he was would’ve killed a lesser cat.”
Those weren’t happy memories. The days as part of the squad. Then he and Deadnight’s capture by the enemy clan. Deadnight had been different then. Sane, and a strong and good-natured warrior. It had been the torture that had broken his friend.
“My ‘business’ days are long gone,” Nightshade looked out, over the territory that she ruled, “Long over. I’d like to settle for once, find a place I can protect. And,” his sight looked back to her, “I would like to see Deadnight again. Is he doing well?”

Torture? Ah, but that made sense. Kestrel's sympathy, both for the newcomer and for Deadnight was immediate.
"He is doing just fine," she meowed softly. "RisingClan is a place to protect, and Deadnight is back at camp."
She flicked her tail. "I'll take you there."

“I’d protect it with my life, if you’d accept me. Deadnight and me…we were best buds back in the unit. Those were some good days.” Before the capture, and torture of course. He and the guys had been taken away, leavin Deadnight to the full assault from the enemy. Nightshade had wanted to be there, for them to torture him instead. Bit ti just not happened that way, ya’ know?

You'll never take me alive
Kestrel tapped Nightshade's shoulder with her tail comfortingly. "Welcome to RisingClan," she mewed.
She padded away. "Come to camp. Deadnight will be there."
