There are those who think That life has nothing left to chance. A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance.
A planet of playthings.
.x. Padding at a steady pace, it took Sunsetfire a couple of days to cross the expanse of territory between Stealthclan and Risingclan.
But he made it.
Here, he could remember, and reflect.
It was here where he and Fallingsky had parted, all those moons ago.
The golden tom sighed, fiery amber orbs worn, but then he walked crossed the border, following scents that would, hopefully, lead him to the Risingclan camp and Kestrel.
Crossed the line.
Would Fallingsky recognize him? Would he be welcomed?
It didn’t matter. The tom was here for one thing.
Allegiance.

You'll never take me alive
One white paw in the dust. Then another.
A she-cat materialized, the dust spinning around her in the wind, the blue sky yawning above. Her fur was white, mottled with pale gray, ruffling in the breeze. She was slim and quick, yet strong, and though she carried with her an air of authority, the age gap between her and the tom before her was not as large as one might expect. Her pretty face was composed, and her mismatched eyes -one cool blue, the other fierce electric yellow- settled on the tom in an instant.
She knew this cat like she knew all cats of importance: through word of mouth, by reputation. She knew who this was: Sunsetfire, of the seventh Clan.
Sunsetfire had never seen the she-cat before, and he may not reconize her now, but he might...simply by the way she carried herself.
Kestrel of RisingClan took a few graceful steps forward, her head held high, proud and fearless.
"What business have you here?" she called cooly, wariness but no hostility in her sharp eyes.
I'm alive

He was not surprised.
The golden tom settled back, fiery hues falling on the she-cat before him. He was powerful, in his youth, and would become even more so as he filled out the rest of the way. His movements had been effortlessly, traveling on the terrain of her lands.
One. One. Two.
“I am here, Kestrel of Risingclan, to forge an alliance between Risingclan and Stealthclan. To forge a bond between these two clans, united and strong. For us to stand by your side in the coming battle; to fight that evil who haunts this valley.”
One. One. Two. Burn.
Sunsetfire lifted his head, the pride within that burning gaze matching hers, engulfing his being in that raging inferno.
Oh, he had pride. Stealthclan.
“That, and to possibly see my sister. I know she made it across the borders to join your ranks, those moons ago.”
After all, hadn’t Sunsetfire promised Fallingsky that they would someday meet again? He wanted that day to be now. It had been so long.

Kestrel merely stared at Sunsetfire for a long moment, her fiercely brilliant gaze cutting through the tom's skin, down to his heart.
It seemed the tom was trustworthy. She could see no lie in him.
She bowed her head in agreeance, her mismatched eyes flashing. "It is done," she meowed simply.
The gray and white she-cat padded closer, drifting over the land with ease. She met Sunsetfire's gaze evenly, meowing, "I have already formed an alliance with MistClan, TreeClan, and StoneClan. By entering an alliance with me, you are, essentially, entering an alliance with them as well.
That makes four."
A light half-smile lit her face. She looked marginally less intense when she smiled, and that was usually a good thing; Kestrel could be scary sometimes. "Fallingsky," she murmured, nodding. She looked thoughtful for an instant, then turned and began to pad away, sweeping her tail vaguely in the direction of the burning sun. "She is hunting. I shall take you to her."

“My clan shall look out for the others as well. We leave none behind.”
Mistclan. More memories.
But he didn’t want to remember them right now.
“I shall follow.”
The golden tom rose to his paws; fiery gaze on Kestrel as he padded after her. It was difficult, to contain his excitement that, now, he was going to see Fallingsky.
“Is she dong well?”
Sunsetfire couldn’t stop the question; didn’t bother to even try to.

They walked ahile. The wind sang; the hissed, the brush rattled. The RisingClan song.
"She is," Kestrel said, her voice warmer. "See?"
And there she was.

The white and gold she-cat happened to glance sideways, and at once her head leapt in her chest. A familliar form, there beside her leader-- coud it be?
But it was. This Fallingsky knew.
For a long moment she stood still, trembling slightly, staring wide-eyed at her brother.
Finally, a word escaped her: "SUNSETFIRE!" She howled the word above the cool wind-sound and threw herself in the direction of Kestrel and Sunsetfire.
Kestrel wisely stepped aside.
Fallingsky skidded to an ungraceful stop moments before striking her brother, and looked him right in the eye.
Then she tackled him anyway.

Fallingsky.
His dear, sweet, pure sister. She’d grown. But hadn’t they both?
Sunsetfire shivered, about to charge forward to meet her, to express the sheer joy he felt to finally see her again.
But she beat him to it.
And he was tackled. Not surprising.
Sunsetfire playfully cuffed his sister, a raspign purr rumbling from his throat as he nudged her form.
“C’mon, get’off Fallingsky!”
He didn’t care if this was embarrassing to be doing in front of a fellow leader. Embarrassing? Hah! He wasn’t in the least bit embarrassed.

Fallingsky laughed, a bright, tinkling sound like glass.
Stepping off her brother, the white and gold she-cat examined him with a critical eye. "You've...changed," she said finally. He was bigger, stronger...magnificent. Her brother, a leader.
Almost shyly, she meowed, "How is your StealthClan mission?"

For a moment, Sunsetfire merely smiled, so happy he was to see his pure sister once more. But then, he rolled back to his feet, sitting as he chose the words to answer her question.
“It’s a complete success. We lair to the south of here, and the clan is growing by the day.”
Pride burned briefly within amber eyes, but the tom didn’t let it consume him. He was proud of Stealthclan. Who wouldn’t be?
You’ve…changed.
At that, Sunsetfire almost froze. It was true…he had changed. But so had she.
“I think mother’s murder set us on these paths. Changed us far greater than what we might have.”

Fallingsky nodded soberly. "I'd like to kill Darkangel with my own claws," she hissed ragefully, tensing. Her eyes flared with the fury that was her birthright.
Then she relaxed, slowly. "But that would make me like...like him," she whispered. Never.
Never, never. But she feared she already was; in ways she could not understand.

“It’s not dishonorable to think such a thought, Fallingsky. Just think of what she took from us. Our anger, our hate, of her is fueled by the crime that she committed. And like any wrongdoing feline, she will meet her fate.”
Like him…like him…like him…
Sunsetfire was like him too, in ways even he didn’t want to understand. But the tom didn’t dwell on it. He knew, in his heart, that neither he nor Fallingsky were evil.
“We have to do what is right, even if it seems wrong in our own eyes.”

As Fallingsky nodded, Kestrel stepped smoothly forward. "Sunsetfire of StealthClan," she adressed him, "What will you do now?"

Heartbeat.
“I believe I will return to my territory. There is much to organize, and prepare for.”
Amber hues flared brightly, caught by the light of the sun and turned to their crimson fury. The strong young leader looked between the two she-cats.
His sister and her leader.
“Stealthclan will never be too far off. If Boneclan proceeds to attack, we shall come as quick as possible.”

Kestrel bowed her head. "Go with honor, Sunsetfire," she moewed gravely.
She turned and padded away, vanishing into RisingClan's dust-spun landscape.
I'm alive
[/s] Fallingsky touched her nose to her brother's. She smiled, giggling softly, sweetly. "Found any she-cats yet, Sunset?" she asked shyly, laughing through her words. How funny it was. And she hoped he had.

Sunsetfire raised his head, respect shining in amber eyes as he nodded a farewell to Kestrel.
Btu then there was another farewell to be made.
He lightly pressed his nose back, a smile glittering in his eyes at Fallingsky’s words.
“Well, there is one…”
He then laughed, playfully swatting her lightly with a paw.
“I’ll be back soon Fallingsky. Btu I must return home.”
He pressed his face against her shoulder, but this farewell? It was nowhere near as difficult as the original.
After all, they would see each other again.
“Good-bye Fallingsky. I’ll visit again here soon, if the war doesn’t catch up with us.”

Fallingsky laughed. "Well, I hope you two treat each other well." Her tone was nearly playful.
Then her face clouded. "It will," she meowed. "There is a war between us, dear brother."
She licked his ear fondly. "Go to your home. Fight it well. I will too, and someday, when this war isn't between us, we can catch up."
With a sweet smile, she turned and padded away.

He watched as his sister padded away, before the golden tom turned, heading out of Risingclan territory.
Towards his clan.
Towards the future.
