A blur of grey streaked out of Rouge Meadows, hissing and spitting with rage the whole way. The male's fur was smudged with blood, his neck had been cut and his shoulders raw, his own paws bloody from the fight. He has been ambushed by a member of RisingClan and was lucky to have escpaped...he was only a new apprentice.
His breath grew ragged as his pace was slowing from his blood-loss and exhaustion, he was almost to DuskClan's borders...at least that would provide some sort of refuge. But then the thought of a DuskClan member chasing him out made his heart drop...he would, after-all, be invading their territory as a rouge himself. His legs suddenly gave way as he entered DuskClan's territory....His head felt light and airy, his breath coming fast and weak, he could feel his pulse in his toes...
He prayed to StarClan that it would not be a rutheless cat that happened upon him and decided to finish him off.

Smokepaw was lucky that Sabrestar was not in a horrible mood today. Otherwise, she probably would have chased the apprentice to the bowels of hell. The Duskclan Leader diskliked the option of nursing weakened cats back to health - as if they were just using the Clan to regain their strenght just to leave once more. But Sabrestar was a wise leader; she knew how to play the game of life - and she could not deny the fact that Duskclan needed more members - especially apprentices. Besides, by the look of those wounds, the apprentice shoudl be dead. And the mere fact that he wasn't showed promise to the apprentice; something Sabrestar will definitely look into. The flash of black moved so fast the eye could not comprehend without straining their gaze forward; roughly outlining a small, sledner figure darting across the wheat fields towards the apprentice at an alarming speed.
Sabrestar was quick, swift, sure footed - small - infact, she was the size of this apprentice - but wise and strong far beyond her age. There was a superior air to the way she carried herself, a dangerous glint within her icey-blue eyes that made most cats shiver in fear. However, the Duskclan Leader, today, was going to do something she had never, ever, done before:
Save this cat's life.
In her jaws, she carried poppyseeds, dockleaf mixed with mintleaf stemjuice, a few ruby berries, a few vines for broken bones, and cobwebs, all stuffed inside a bundle wrapped in a big oak leaf. Halting to a smooth stop in front of Smokepaw, her eyes glittered with a type of disdain, but soon faded to a cold, stoical emotionless cold. The flawless face of the Duskclan Leader was a picture of stone and ice, not a single emotion escaping her masquerade.
"Lie down."
She ordered quietly. Her voice was smooth like molassas, hard as steel, cold as frozen water - but there was a quiet authority that spoke no threat nor danger, unlike her normal persona. Unbundling the small pack, she curled the cobweb around her left paw. Pressing her strong right paw against his shoulder, she attended to his neck, pressing the web into the wounds and scratches. Her grip was surprisingly brutal but not enough to hurt him, and she worked defly and effectively, taking out the dockleaf mixture to spread on his wounds. As she worked, she spoke softly.
"I am Sabrestar, Mistress of Duskclan. Do not look to me as a Medicine Cat; I am only attending to your wounds because Duskclan needs apprentices. You tell me now that you will join as a strong, learning apprentice, and I shall spare you your life. So answer me, apprentice, and tell me where you fate lies."

Smokepaw looked up at Sabrestar, his eyes portrayed a glint of his strong-will...that, and gratefulness. He spoke in a strong voice,
I will join your Clan and be loyal to it and it alone. You saved me and for that I am grateful....Thank you.
He gave a small nod, for that was all the pain in his neck would permit. Smokepaw could not help but feel a sense of power emitting from Sabrestar. She is a great and powerful leader.

"Do not expect me to be this generous all the time, Apprentice."
Sabrestar murmered, tilting her muzzle in acknowledgment to his thanks. Taking out of the bundles, she unsheathed one hideously brilliant five-inch silver claw from her right paw, easily slicing the bundle in half with deadly efficiency, hooking a berry onto her claw and placing it on the male's neck, pressing it with her firm left paw. She began work on his shoulder, soothing the clawmarks and fang rips with mintleaf so the burns would be soothed. The sweet scent of mint quickly clouded the air, mixing with the smell of berries and medicines floating like visible clouds. Lifting her paw, she began pressing searchingly around for any broken bones.
"Is anything sprained, broken?"
Sabrestar asked, still pressing around, stopping here of there to bend his paw or check his toes.

Smokepaw sighed with the scents of herbs and berries, his wounds not burning as painfully as before.
He sniffed at his shoulder for a moment before answering,
I dont think anything's broken. I think the injuries are only to flesh...not bone.

Sabrestar nodded silently, satisfied. Finishing her work, she left the scraps of medicines and herbals on the ground. She rose to her paws in a twist of sleek muscles beneath her black coat, which was ruffled just slightly but still well-groomed to the point where the pretty she-cat looked like a Queen. Oh, my bad. She is a queen. (: Flicking her tail against Smokepaw's paw, she stepped forward, twitching her ears in the direction towards were Camp was - off to the right of the Plains, a massive clearing surrounded by boulders aside from the entrance.
"Visit Shocksoul; Duskclan's Medicine Cat, after two suns. Rest. Eat. Regain your strenght; for when I next see you, I hope to see a true Duskclan Apprentice."
Sabrestar spoke, amazingly, without her usual mockery and threat. She just spoke monotone, without a single flicker of emotion - besides the authority within her orders. She stepped away from the young male.
"I must finish the rest of my patrol and hunt. Keep your weight off of your left shoulder, and do not put stress on your neck. Head back to Camp now."
And suddenly, with a blur of black and a rustle of wheat beneath her paws, Sabrestar dissapeared within a rush of dark shadow - gone, as if she was never there.

Smokepaw nodded as Sabrestar left...He couldn't help but feel a sense of great pride...
A real Duskclan Apprentice. He repeated to himself quietly before he limped off towards the Camp, his head held high as though his limp meant nothing.
