Ohhh, what a fiiiine day to diiie...ahem, traiiin!

Loveless barreled into the training area, knowing his apprentice was hot on his tail. He finally stopped, dropping the mouse at his paws and panting as he waited for her to show hope, knowing that he hadn’t run fast enough to completely lose her.

The mouse was forgotten as the tom leaped to his paws.

"Ohhh...that was a good run."

[Pinedark]

Pinepaw came up behind him, stopping and panting as he spoke. She grinned.

"Yup, sure was!" she mewed. "Lovely day for it, too." Her eyes never stopped gleaming, started even more when she took a good look around the training field. To her, is was worn--in the used sort of way--but homey, comfortable, in the trusted sort of way. She thought she'd have a good lesson today.

[Loveless]

“Of course it’s a lovely day for a run. The sun is shinin’, the bird’s, although tasty they are, are singin’, and furthermore…cha~cha~cha!”

The black and white tom took a few light and playfully steps to the side, his version of dance movements, tail waving cheerfully in the air above him. His humorous and bright-hearted nature certainly was addicting…what a giant kit!

“Let’s see what you can do. Swipe at me.”

[Oh, I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to reply. I've just returned from the hospital a few hours ago, and I'm afraid I'm still a little behind with posting...]

Pinepaw watched her mentor jump and dance and thought how lucky she was to be with one who could understand how a small cat--kit or young one--would feel. She felt perfectly at ease with him.

Pinepaw grinned and scrunched down in a fighting position. In a moment she had jumped at Loveless, swinging out her left paw to swipe at his chest.

[ooc- that's perfectly all right! :) I don't mind, really. ^_^ Just make sure you get rest too...Lol sorry if I sound like a mother or something o_O hahaha...ah rest. I need that as well. n.n]

Ah, well, Loveless was quite a rare cat to find. His bright yellow eyes glittered cheerfully, especially when Pinepaw had jumped at him, trying to swipe him in the chest. Although her fighting pose needed some work, and the swipe itself was a bit clumsy, she a natural balance that marked her to be a future good fighter. He was proud that such a bright and eager she-cat was his apprentice.

He threw his weight to the side, rolling out of the young she-cat’s attack, and just as easily regained his paws, ready for her next movement.

“Try again. This time, don’t hold yourself so stiff. Remember what I told you about hunting…you can apply it to fighting as well. Flow to the rhythm, feel the beat.”

To Loveless, fighting was a lot like dancing. For each blow there was a counter-blow…each move a counter-move.

He, himself, did not like to fight. With his nice disposition, he was a better hunter than fighter, but that didn’t mean the tom could not fight. He just often chose not to – there were much better ways to solve your problems then a fight.

If it came to defending his clan, however, Loveless would gladly fight will all the strength in his body until he had nothing left to give.

Pinepaw listened to his response and complied. She rolled back her shoulders, listening to the elements around her. Trying again, she made a sort of jump-and-roll, turning halfway in the air, tried to catch Loveless off-gaurd. She hoped she could catch him this time.

Although Pinepaw had improved greatly from her first attempt, Loveless was still able to twist and smoothly escape her attack.

“Better! Much better, but you are still holding yourself a little still, and not only that, you bunch your muscles right before you attack. That makes it easy to predict where you will be heading.”

Loveless was, however, unable to hide the pride he felt towards her in his voice.

“Try again.”

Pinepaw let herself loosen even more, rolling back her shoulders once again. She closed her eyes, imagining where her mentor was in relation to her. This time, she swiped with her right paw, bringing her back leg around as well.
