Snowstripe led the way down the rocky slope and into the small grassy field. Her tail held high it was as she led the patrol around the tall and yellowing stalks.
Keep your eyes open for any intruders, be they aliay or enemy. She stated simply, eyes keen. The Stoneclan warriors and apprentices marched through the grass, trotting through the field on bright sunny day.
She paused in the shade of one bunch of tall grass, panting. The heat was exhausting, and her black fur certainly didn't help anything at all. She dragged herself on. Move on..

Dragonpelt followed closely behind Snowstripe. It was almost ironic for one with such a dark pelt to be called Snowstripe. She looked winded already and he felt bad for her walking in such intense sun with her dark fur. He sped up until he was beside her and hesitated, then spoke to her.
"Snowstripe...you look exhausted already, I know this is your patrol...but perhaps you'd like to rest in the shade for a bit and I could lead...?" he asked, tentatively. "Just tell me where you'd like me to patrol, I know the whole forest from my wanderings and I will bring everyone straight back to you...if you don't mind that is...?"

She was named so for the single white stripe down her chest, and the white paws. But it was true, it was relatively ironic for such a white name to be placed upon a black cat.
She shook her head. No, it's fine. However, you may help me lead. She offered, nodding her head forward. I brought this patrol upon myself, and i'll go through with my word for the safety of the clan. She moved on, but her voice was clear... as if nothing was wrong.
She carried herself stronger, determined to boost her spirits in order to keep the move and spirits on.

Dragonpelt smiled as she trotted farther off. He should have known she would put the clan before herself. Snowstripe was an admirable cat and he was already fond of her. He stepped up his pace and followed again.

The scent of rogue was heavy here, but she gave even a little sigh of relief as it was just a few tail lengths over the border. She hissed as she saw, as she was walking, to dusty young rogues. She lunged, tail held high irritably and bit on the rogue's chest, throwing it over her shoulder for another cat to attack. She now faced a burly old rogue cat, glaring down at her.

Dragonpelt smelled and then saw the rogue cats. He was amazed at how fast they had come upon them and how well they fought. He was not used to clan life yet, but he was an able fighter for all of his life. Rushing forward, he sank his teeth into the neck fur of the older rogue cat and dragged him away from Snowstripe. He waited to see if Loveless or the other cats would attack.
Releasing the cat for a moment he called to Snowstripe, "Watch out, that one is coming from behind!" Then he bit down on the old cat's leg as he ducked to avoid it's swiping claws.

Snowstripe was on it before he even finished his sentence. She whirled around, claws unsheathed and paws outstretched, and she managed to swipe her claws agains the opposing cat's face. He yowled in rage and leaped at her, but she was quick to duck and leap at his stomach overhead.
It brought the cat down real quick, with Snowstripe attached to his side with tooth and nail. Her tail flashed awkwardly as the cat struggled to free himself.

Dragonpelt pinned his attacker down as well, digging his claws into the rogue's belly fur. He watched Snowstripe waiting for orders.

Her eyes were burning with a furious fire, and she bent down low to hiss at both cats. If you EVER.. Set foot on Stoneclan territory again, I will personally kill you. She looked between the two cats, tail flicking in irritation. Let them go. She said gently to Dragonpelt, stepping off the rogue beneath her and watching it escape over the boundaries. She let out a 'hmph' and turned.

Dragonpelt nodded and let his cat up. The rogue spat an insult his way and Dragonpelt snarled back at him, making the old cat run off. He flicked his tail to tell the other cats in their patrol to follow and followed after Snowstripe. He caught up with her easily and watched her panting. The heat was bad enough, but after that scrap she must be worn out.
"Any injuries?" he inquired.

Snowstripe looked over her back at the rest of the patrol group and shook her head. No, but we need to find water soon. I'd rather not have to cross Rogue meadows to get to the stream. She sat down and licked her paw, rubbing it over the side of her head. There was only a thin cut across her cheek. But she seemed undaunted by it. Her eyes still burned with a determined fire, tail flicking.

Dragonpelt really did admire her spirit.
"So...you going to keep this up until you drop?" he asked, a slight teasing tone in his otherwise serious voice.

Yes. She stated, not really catching the sarcasm in his voice. There's a puddle somewhere around here the rogues drink from. She muttered, tail flicking. She hated the idea of drinking from water filth also drank from, but if she didn't she'd overheat and pass out.

Dragonpelt smiled to himself and walked closer to her side, letting her lean on him for support.
"This must be the hottest summer you've had in moons...it must be horrible to have dark fur in this..." he said, thinking of his white base coat with its many patches of other colors.

Indeed.. She growled, the heat starting to make her temperamental as she leaned on him. Her ears pricked forward as she scented water. She got unsteadily to her feet and bounded forward through the yellowing grass. She bent down to lap at the brown and grey water, holding her breath as she drank from the filthy water.

Dragonpelt watched as Snowstripe lapped up the disgusting smelling water. He wrinkled his nose, it smelled like something bad, something he recognized but couldn't place.
"Snowstripe...you should stop drinking that water!" he said suddenly.

She coughed up some and spit it out. Why? She asked, tail flicking. Would she have been better off getting to the Camp for a drink? She looked down at the water, ears flicking forward.

Dragonpelt rushed over to the puddle and took a long whiff of the brown water.
"I thought so!" he said, worry in his voice. "There are twoleg poisons in it...I think they call it...oi...oil..." He walked around to the other side, where sunlight peeked through the trees. "See how it shines with all those colors...its not safe to drink!"

She coughed, looking back. Poison? I need to get back to the Camp, and fast. I need the medicine cat!! She'd forgotten all about the heat as she darted past the other cats, tail held high.
((do we even have a medicine cat?? o-o))

(Umm I think so...we'll have to find out...^^;; Dragonpelt followed after quickly, wanting to make sure she got to some medicine cat if not their own. He hoped the others would follow.
