Speaking with Chainless

[Featherstar]

Featherstar padded thorough the confusing pattern of rocks confidently. She was quite sure of her abilities in this, her home. She spoke to the cat who walked just behind her, without looking back, So, what is it about StoneClan would you like to know more about? Chainless' answer would give the leader a place to start.

The snow white wraith followed Featherstar, her dainty paws making not a sound as they lightly met the ground. Even though the she-cat looked completely at ease, strange as that may seem as she was on territory that she did not yet call home, delicate shells of her ears twitched at every sound, finding and classifying them into her mind for future use, and twin pools watched the sights was a level look.

She was impressed, yes, but not in awe. Many places she had ventured to were as lovely as this, but even beauty could hide much danger.

“Anything you are willing to state about your clan.”

It would be understandable if Featherstar didn’t give out any secrets or weaknesses – Chainless wasn’t a Stoneclan cat just yet.

Well then. StoneClan is located in dangerous territory, I'll admit that. But that is only if you don't know your way around and how to survive in the mountains. Like this maze. Very few cats not of StoneClan know how to get to our camp. All they know is that it is at the end of this maze. Our cats are trained to be able to attack from the tops of rocks and all apprentices must prove worthy on an assessment before they can become warriors. Right now our clan is still growing. We were recently wiped out by extensive twolegs and disease. But so were all the rest of the clans so we are equal in that aspect. Featherstar wasn't really sure what the healer wanted to know. So, the she-cat was simply telling her what she believed was important about StoneClan.

The white she-cat appeared visibly bothered when Featherstar mentioned ‘disease’. She had noticed, among her trek, many other clans suffering the same fate – many even to the point of being completely wiped out!

White fur pricked a bit, desire to learn of this disease, to learn its cause and to stop it – those were the things that made Chainless the healer she was.

“You said you needed a healer…a ‘Medicine Cat’?”

[Featherstar]

Yes, Featherstar admitted, we do. Our previous medicine cat, Swallowtail, disappeared a few moons ago. We've been without one since. I myself know a bit about how a few different herb and plants can heal certain illnessess but I have no training as a healer. That is why StoneClan needs another to be able to help with anything that could come up. The disease that wiped out the Clans was a mysterious disease that none of the medice cats had ever seen before. That's why so many cats died. None knew how to treat it. Featherstar hoped this fact wouldn't lessen Chainless' view of the Clans.

“You speak the truth when you said you were not the only clan struck by the disease.”

Chainless spoke softly, hoping to quell Featherstar’s doubts.

“During my travels, I have seen many struck by it. Healthy cats, strong warriors, vigorous queens…none were safe. Many died. I did what I could to help, and although I couldn’t find a cure, per-say, I did find a combination of herbs that seemed to lessen the symptoms and aid in one’s own healing strength.”

The white cat paused, tilting her head to the side thoughtfully.

“If your clan has need of one who heals, then I cannot refuse.”

[Featherstar]

At Chainless' words, Featherstar relaxed. Thank you. When we get to the camp, after you speak with Loveless, I will show you your new den. Featherstar looked up. Just in time to appear in the clearing that was the StoneClan camp. Well, I guess we're here. Welcome.
