Emerald eyes flashed brightly in the gloom as a ginger queen stepped timidly forward. Scurrying behind the femme were four bedraggled kits, who's eyes glared in frozen fear, and fur prickled with disease.
Finally, the ginger-pelted feline halted, allowing her four exhausted kits to flop onto the cold, hard ground. Slowly, the queen lowered herself to the ground, the events of that day taking its toll.
The skinny cats dreams were filled with the horror of the last few days.... strange, badger-like creatures attacking ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, and WindClan at the Gathering.... killing apprentices, warriors, elders, queens, and even the leaders. The queen's Clan, ThunderClan, had fled, but had been found by the strange creatures. Every cat besides the dark-coated femme and her kits had died.
The queen woke from her dream with a start, and slowly pushed herself to her shaking paws. Staggering, she headed toward the sharp incline a few feet away from her resting place. Without a glance back at the kits that she was abandoning, the queen leaped forward into the snarling torrent before, and allowed the water to take hold of her body. Thus died Sandstorm, mate of the might leader of ThunderClan, Firestar.
Sandstorm's four kits-the only cats left from the once might Clans-grew up on their own. There was Lightkit, the courageous and strong tom. Stonekit was witty and cunning, while Skykit was honest and true. The only female was Mistkit, the secretive, yet strong kit. These four soon founded the four Clans that thrive today-LightClan, StoneClan, SkyClan, and MistClan.
Lightkit appointed himself the name Lightstar. The tom fell in love with a young rouge named Ivory, and they were the founders of LightClan.
Stonekit gave himself the same, bold name as his brother, so he was Stonestar He and Ebony's sister, Clover, founded StoneClan.
Skykit also appointed himself leader of a Clan,, and he became Skystar. A kittypit named Brenna and him started SkyClan.
Finally, Mistkit. At first, she wanted to be known as Mistheart, but eventually gave in and gave herself the name Miststar. She fell in love with a rouge named Thor, and together they started MistClan.
