Galekit trotted along the mountain, her paws not yet worn out for the day. As she climbed higher, it grew colder, but her fluffy kitten coat kept her warm. A wiry little tail was swaying happily. She missed the rest of her travelling group, and she knew Tigerkit did, too...Savannahkit, and Summerkit...Miragekit...but most of all, everyone missed Fangkit. The one who had died on their little journey.
The white tabby turned her head, kitten blue eyes twinkling. Tigerkit was not far behind, but snow was falling thickly and they needed to find shelter quick. "Come on, Tigerkit!" she mewed, blinking against the wind and the fluffy white stuff drifting along with it. "We need someplace warm before our tails freeze off!" She sat and waited for her brother, her fur fluffing out in an attempt to keep the wind and cold out. Snow made her almost all white, the black stripes being covered quickly. She shook the snowflakes off, her tiger-like appearance returning.

Tigerkit dragged himself after his sister, his head bowed and his fur puffed out so he looked like he had just been blowdried. "Coming, Galekit!" he yowled, his high-pitched voice blown back from the strong wind. Before their tails froze off? More like they themselves froze like icecubes! Tigerkit's blue eyes narrowed against the snow.
What Galekit was thinking was true. Fangkit had been Tigerkit's best friend in the entire group, besides his sister herself. And he had died. The white tabby tomkitten stopped, angry at his friend. Why did he have do die? Had he chosen to? Didn't he realize how much all of his friends would miss him?
And then he remembered Cleo. She had disappeared before Fangkit had passed away; before the group had split up to go their seperate ways. What had she been doing? She had been the oldest out of all of them; a good two moons older. But that hadn't stopped Savannahkit from being the leader.

The brown she-cat watched the kits coming with a smile on her face. She enjoyed kits. But the smile fled when she wondered what these two were doing here alone. Moving smoothly over to them in the thickening snow, Featherstar questioned,
Are you two lost?
