Meandering

[Mapleheart]

Maplepaw padded about the hollow tree that made up the Treeclan camp. Ever since the gathering his clan had been thrown into dissaray, as Amberstar seemed to have withdrawn, as well as his mentor, Blackheart. The apprentice dropped a shrew that he had captured on the way back from the gathering and looked about him. Perhaps if he couldn't find anyone, perhaps Thunderstep, Onyxpelt, or Sunpelt, he could see how Rainfall and her kits were doing.

He focused in on a large black and yellow butterfly that stuck out boldly from the backdrop of brown and red maple leaves. As he waited, his head began to syncrhonize to its movement. Everything had its entertainment value, right?

[Blackheart]

Blackheart had been ill at ease for a while. The wise deputy had fallen back, returning for a brief span of time to his solitude – wandering the Treeclan borders and musing to himself.

What thoughts and conclusions had the large black tom came to during that time alone? Only he could say. But right now, there was only one thing any cat within these borders needed to know.

Blackheart. Was. Back.

A large butterfly, the same one Maplepaw was watching, fluttered across the older tom’s vision as he padded silently back into camp. Yellow hues followed the insect, and then fell to rest upon the apprentice.

“I apologize Maplepaw.”

That was it. Those were the only words that the black deputy said. He was sorry.

Maplepaw started and turned about, not managing to stand up in the process so that he remained sitting. Blackheart had definitely not been there a few moments prior. His simple words, his apology, were probably the most heartfelt that the young tom had ever heard in his short life.

"I...I suppose it'll be okay." He mustered, quite at a loss for words. The way he pronounced the last word automatically formed his muzzle into a smile, and, deciding that this was probably the best thing to do, he kept it on. His mentor obviously had a lot on his mind. No further words on the subject of his return were needed.

"Do you know where everyone else is...?" Maplepaw asked, calmly and hopefully.

(I'm going to have Maplepaw make an appearence at the October 6th gathering. Since this is a rather heartfelt moment, and the schedule of our RPing was thrown off a bit with the length of the last gathering, I say we should just keep this one going. =p )
