Rogue Meadow was no longer safe. Wrenwing had decided this after getting separated from all the others and hearing some interesting things about a war. She hadn't heard it was spread to include the surrounding clans, or she'd probably have just hidden out in some lone corner of Rogue Meadow til it was all over.
Right now she traveled the border of Treeclan. Treeclan, because it had trees, and Rani, her little wren friend, liked trees. Rani was somewhere up there, supposedly scouting. More like paying absolutely no attention to any of her surroundings, if Wrenwing knew her friend. Wrenwing, on the other hand, practically slunk everywhere she went, instead of an honest, forthright trot or walk. It might put some in mind of a weasel, honestly.
Rani fluttered down from a nearby tree and took up a perch on the she-cat's head, chattering merrily so fast that Wrenwing couldn't make heads or tails of what the little bird was saying. She rolled her eyes and sat, tail wrapped around her paws as she looked up towards the sky, beyond the tree canopy.

Where they were looking to the sky, so beautiful and untainted, they had a visitor. Or more like, they were the visitors to this shaggy amber she as she made her way on dainty white paws towards them. Her long tail swept after her frame like a banner tied to her butt, but it was elegant, and added a nice touch to her pretty appearance. Golden eyes flicked through the trees at them, narrowing curiously. A cat... And a bird. She seemed almost taken aback, but no less curious. A cat traveling with a bird.. As a companion, and not as prey?
Of course, if they joined her ranks, she would give commands to leave the bird as it was. She made her appearance grand. Another sweep of her tail like a grandfather clocks long pendulum, she stepped forward to greet this newcomer and her traveling companion.

She froze as the other she-cat appeared, front legs straight as boards while she crouched back a little on her hind legs, her eyes wide like saucers. Wren looked on the verge of running straight up one of those tall trees.
Then Rani dipped down and hit her in the nose with sharp little claws before flitting back up to land on Wrenwing's head. The she-cat rolled her eyes up to look at Rani and wrinkled her nose, distracted for just a second from running up a tree. But it was enough. When her attention flicked back to the golden she-cat, she still looked wary enough to run at a moment's notice, but she was, at least, stationary for the time being.

Amberstar wanted to laugh aloud at this she-cat's response to her entrance. However, for the benefit of the guest and in making sure she knew Amberstar wasn't hostile, she dipped her muzzle and gave a soft smile. Evening! She chirped as if she were speaking to one of her clanmembers or her deputy. Her eyes had a certain spark to it, it was hard to believe she was preparing for war. Or perhaps that was the remaining fire that came when the concept of war entered her mind, and the prospect of winning, of defeating those flea-ridden half-minded bloodlings that called themselves a clan. Even Duskclan was to blame here, if they sided with those blistering idiots.
I wish to know your name, she-cat. I am Amberstar, leader of Treeclan.

Wrenwing wished right now to evaporate into the ground- she hadn't quite been reckoning on finding the leader, at least... not right this second. She supposed that had been her eventual goal. What else had she expected?
"I'm Wrenwing. The little bird is Rani. She's also a pain in the butt," the little she-cat informed Amberstar. She received a quick peck to the head for the last comment, and winced, but flicked an ear good naturedly. Rani hopped down to her nose, and then towards the ground from there, but was caught by an expert paw as soon as she hit the ground. Her tail was squarely pinned under one of Wrenwing's paws. And she stayed that way, because while Wrenwing trusted the little bird not to get caught, she didn't always trust other cats not to try, even if they'd already seen her and knew her to be Wrenwing's friend. Some cats just couldn't help trying for anything small that moved. Wrenwing, for her part, was still far enough away from the gold she-cat to get well away, given a little warning. But Amberstar seemed friendly. Wren let her weight settle back forward on her free front paw, not looking quite so much like she'd been caught mid-flee. This was a cat who knew her acrobatics. She was very well balanced on her feet, even when her weight was oddly distributed between three of them.
"She likes trees. And I climb them," Wrenwing explained after a moment, letting Rani go. The little bird flew way up to a branch and scolded Wrenwing loudly enough for anyone within a good distance to hear. Wrenwing settled onto all four paws now, and glanced up only once at the bird.
"Do you have room in your clan for one and... um, a bird?"
