I know the dance of life and death I’ve seen the angels draw last breath I got out to see the sunrise Then go home
The large black tom placed one paw in front of the other in a sedate and unhurried matter. Why should he hurry? He was in no hurry; there was no place he needed to be.
I walk between the sands of time I’ve claimed the sky the stars are mine The rain the moon all but bowed Before me
He was no young male. No hyper and eager young thing, running around and disturbing the peace of the morning. He was a loner, that was true, but no rogue…his scent was devoid completely of any rogue scent. He was traveler, simply put.
Darkness falls From breath so still Free the baffled angels Don’t cry (Good night)
His voice was rich and vibrant, solid and as strong as he himself was.
Your shadow follows far behind you The light is stretching far to find you Who is there to walk beside you
But what was there to say? The tom was a simple tom, maybe a bit older than many who were searching for a clan, and certainly a lot wiser, but he was just a tom. Nothing outrageously special about him.
I am the hurt, I am the pain I’ll take the silence, I’ve earned the blame A cloudless sky can give no rain
And he was glad he was that way. He lived his life how he wanted to, without any worries or regret. He had no desire for high rank, or even leadership…he just wished to find a clan he could serve as loyally as he did his previous one.
Darkness falls From breath so still Free the baffled angels Don’t cry (Good night) Ah, but that brought up memories that he thought better left buried, and the tom continue on his journey.
I know the dance of life and death I’ve seen the angels draw last breath I got out to see the sunrise Then go home…
[OOC - Song is 'Darkness Falls' written by...me! *laughs* I didn't put all the lyrics, the post would be way too long then.]

The young leader was, as usual, on patrol. Her many wounds didn't stop her from completing her duty, afterall. Plus, maybe she could find Goldenblaze on her travels? The young cat had disappeared shortly after the battle, and had not yet shown his face in the Treeclan. She was beginning to worry. The moonlight showed dappled across her deep auburn coat, mottled patches in large puddles of silvery tan, mixing colors of the moon and her amber fur. Her namesake.
The she cat was keeping to the shade of the trees; she liked the dark, it kept her cool in the summer. Even at night it kept her heavy coat from overheating. As silky and smooth as her coat was, it was quite the pain in the ass during the summer. How ever many times she'd almost keeled over in heated exhaustion?
Her ears flicked and she peered between the trees, keeping her hiding place from under the bush. It took her only a minute to trot out at a steady gait, tail held high in sharp dominance. But her face was kind as she made her way towards the old tom. State your name and business here. She was getting the hang of saying that now! But with practiced calmness in her voice, she strode up next to him, tail flicking in greeting.

“Why now; you’re a sharp young thing aren’t you.”
The black tom narrowed his yellow hues thoughtfully, but it wasn’t an insolent action. He was merely thinking, and the young female would get nowhere rushing him. Well, she may get a swat if she did. He didn’t tolerate being rushed by any cat, leader or no.
“Name? Once it was Blackheart.”
A clan name for a once-clan cat. Ah, but that was so long ago. Too many trails had been padded down since then, too far had he gone to go back now.
“Business? Finding a clan to serve until StarClan decides it’s time to take me from this world.”
It was amusing, especially how the tom towered over the young leader. But then again, he was large for a cat…but there was not an ounce of fat on that frame. Muscle, sturdy and strong, that was what he had.
“What be your name, young one?”

It didn't bother her in the least to be called 'young one'. In fact, she respected the elders, even ranks below her. She'd remember the old elders in the Treeclan before disease and humans killed them. Oh the stories they used to tell! She smiled kindly to him, patiently waiting for each answer. Amberstar was in no hurry, and therefore tried not to rush him any more.
Well, Blackheart? I can offer you a home here in Treeclan. We'd be grateful to have you, as I think you would to serve this clan well. She nodded her head respectfully, thinking over each answer before she said it aloud. My name be Amberstar. She said calmly, golden eyes studying his well-built frame.

“Suitable name for a suitable young leader.”
Blackheart dipped his head respectfully, although he wasn’t the friendliest cat to ever walk the earth, he knew where to give respect when it was due. And Amberstar deserved respect, especially if she reached the rank of leader at such a young age.
“I will do my duty and serve TreeClan with my mind, soul, body, and heart…until the day StarClan takes the strength from my body and the sharpness from my claws.”
He stretched, muscled rippling like water under his fine black pelt. Suddenly he glared at Amberstar, and snapped lightly.
“Now don’t go and start a callin’ me an elder missie. I’m a warrior, and will be until I am unable to complete the tasks given to me.”

She dipped her head respectfully. Thank you! She said graciously, tail flicking. Treeclan will do good to have you as a warrior. I understand. She stood and nodded gently in understanding. Very well then, however I expected nothing less of you. You will sleep in the Warrior quarters until you no longer see need to fight for Treeclan. Now, if you want, I can take you back to Treeclan Maincamp. She turned and began to mosey away, half expecting him to follow her.

Of course Blackheart followed his new leader. He didn’t know the way to the camp yet, so he had no choice but to follow her. However, the first thing that the wise old male planned on doing was, after exploring the main camp, patrolling the entire TreeClan territory.
One would think that an older tom like himself wouldn’t be up to the task, but oh ho! Woe is the cat to ever say those words to Blackheart’s face – they would be clawed for their insolence.
“And you, my young leader, can have faith that I will fight for TreeClan as long as I can.”

She nodded respectfully to the tom, leading the way expertly through the brush and trees. I trust you will do well for the clan as a warrior. Hopefully you find this clan fit to your potential standards? She said, tail flicking in truth. She wanted to make the warrior comfortable, especially as a new leader. She understood well he was up to any given task at any given time. And she admired him for his courage.

“I left my previous clan when it became corrupted by greed and violence. I trust, my young leader, that the same madness will never enter your innocent mind.”
Following the she-cat with ease, Blackheart maintained a constant eye on his surroundings. After this, he would never lose his way again.
“In the years of my travels…I have seen many a clan follow the same road to destruction. As long as I serve Treeclan, I shall strive my hardest to make sure it never does the same.”
Ah, loyalty…a trait that had almost gotten him killed in his old home.

She raised a brow to him, looking at him. No, my clan will never look into the eyes of such destruction. That would be insane madness to put such a Clan to such chaos! She seemed to swell at her pride. She tried to lead Treeclan with grace and ease; she'd hoped it would never come to such drastic measure. In fact, she was positive of it.

The black time smiled smugly, his eyes glittering like yellow fire.
“I do not doubt your words, young leader.”
…and it seemed he had fallen into the habit of calling her ‘young leader’ now. After all, it was a fitting description.
“I merely was bringing it up to make you aware of it, young one. I’ve seen many young leaders start out like you, full of hopes and dreams for the future of their clan. And then, one by one, their dreams fell by the wayside, as the power laid at their paws slowly corrupts them.”
His voice was grim, and he was silent for a long moment.
“You are young. There is much for you to learn of life, of leadership, and of Starclan itself. However, my first impressions have yet to be wrong, and you are a cat who will bring her clan further than ever before.”

I'd certainly not hope you to doubt me. My dreams are large, and yes i've a lot to learn of being a leader and Starclan, but i've a long way to go before it's too late. I hope my downfall not to come while I am leader, lest I bring my Clan to chaos. She shrugged, eyes gleaming brightly. But my hopes and dreams are not beyond reach, I guarantee you that much. She flicked her tail, now being paranoid at the wise tom's words.

“Young one! There’s so much passion in your eyes…why do you fear it? I believe in you, your clan believes in you, and most importantly…StarClan has chosen you. Remember those words, and you shall never fall.”
Blackheart smiled at the young female. He had not meant to make her paranoid…but to advise her the best he could.
“You have much good in you. Use that goodness to lead us, and we shall never fall either.”
He tried making the words as warm as he could, but that was a tad bit hard…he was so set in his cranky and rather antisocial ways. But he hoped that Amberstar would see what he was saying, and commit it not only to her memory, but to her heart.

She looked down, her footfall light. She furrowed her brow in a concentrated state, seeming to study his words. She was commiting it to memory, and to heart. The old tom's words were wise, and she was lucky to have been given them. Taking them to heart, her face brightened and she looked at him eagerly. Well, here we are, at Treeclan Camp. Your new home.
