Leafpool walked throught the forest very carefully. She had found the Treeclan territory and was being very cautious. These cats would most likely not like an unkwon cat walking around in their territory. Keep up Birchkit. We don't kow if these cats will accept us. She looked at her kit for a minute then trekked on.He is going to make a great warrior! She thought proudly.
Birchkit glanced at his mother and sped up a little. He soon scented a mouse and got down into a hunting crouch. He soon saw it and after a whike he pounced and broke it's neck with a few swift blows to it's head. He brought it to his mother and stared at her with a proud look.
Leafpool stared proudl at her son.Wonderful job Birchkit! Let's share this and wait for a clan cat to find us. Then we can go to the leader and seek acceptance.

The woods were rather quiet today, both a good and bad thing in regards to the wellfare of the TreeClan. Quiet woods meant no disturbances, but it could also mean no prey, depending on the type of quiet it was. Today's quiet was...peaceful, in a way. As she purposefully moved through the forest, going around obstacles by pure habit, she regarded the scents that she was picking up. Cats...not clan-marked, but cats nonetheless. Pausing, ears perked in interest, and she dropped into a crouch with her head hung low between her shoulders, peering through the underbrush.
A queen and her kit...she truly hoped they'd be an asset. They smelled a bit of two-legs, though faintly, as if time had begun to wear away at the past. The queen definately looked plump, well-fed...a bit softer than most Clan-cats, but being fed every day without needing to run and leap could leave fuller bellies and softer muscles. However...the Clan needed cats. With a somewhat saddened look, Oakstar stood and slipped through the undergrowth, into the little area of the queen and her kit. She frowned slightly...hunting was not allowed for kits, and she'd have to make sure this one understood the warrior code. Looking up to the queen, she said, "You may join my Clan...we will find you a mentor soon, and your kit may someday become an apprentice. She eyed the kit again, truly hoping she wasn't making a mistake by accepting two cats that smelled of two-legs. Turning, she said, "Camp is this way. With that, she disappeared into the ferns, expecting that these two could keep up with her.

Leafpool looked up startled. She had said nothing about joining the clan to any cat but Birchkit. She didn't even know who this cat was. Wait! Who are you? Who said we wanted to join? I mean we do, but not until we get a bit more explanation. She glanced at Birchkit who had a startled look on his face.

By the time the queen had began to demand explanations from Oakstar, the TreeClan's young leader was already yards away. Stopping in mid-step, the rust-and-chocolate-mottled female scowled. Impatience showed in her brilliant eyes as she wheeled and trotted back to the queen. "You show up, uninvited, at my clan's borders, and you demand explanations of me? Be glad I didn't have to run off or attacked, and be grateful I'm accepting you. It gets cold at night with no food, no shelter, and no company." She had started out with a harsh, almost snappy voice, but as she reached the end of her speech, her voice had softened a bit, although it was not friendly, not in the least. It was more of a knowing, challenging sort of tone. She wasn't about to wait for a queen and a kit who were too stubborn to follow her; if they had been desperate enough to come here, it'd do them well to perhaps listen.
Turning again, she didn't even speak, just...disappeared into the underground. If they wanted to be fed through the winter, to have warm, dry places to sleep, to have protection from other cats and larger predators, then they'd follow. If they would rather fend for themselves, they could stay there at the border. However, if they stayed, without joining, Oakstar would be sure to send a patrol out to run them out. She'd have no loners stealing prey from her clan and traipsing around her territory unchecked.

Leafpool stared after the leader. If she treated her cats like this, then Leafpool wanted no part of it. She would find a different clan to join. One that did not have rude members. Come along Birchkit. We're going to look for a better home. She said as she turned around and stalked out of Treeclan territory.
Birchkit willingly followed after his mother. That she-cat had seemed as if she didn't want them in the clan in the first place. He was glad he wouldn't be apart of her clan.
