I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai stood before the Tall Oak, her flame-colored eyes wide. The massive tree, old and grave as some ancient prophet, fluttered strange words at Juukai when the wind rattled what dry leaves were left among the branches. The entire tree seemed to speak, to judge.
A cool wind swept the tree, spinning the leaves into the air. Juukai stepped forward, hesitently, and placed both front paws on the trunk of the tree. She looked up, curiously as well as solemnly.
Then, she grinned. You and I will be friends, she thought in her customary joyful way.
The light gray she-cat dropped to her paws and turned, bright eyes full of dancing benevolence, seeking Binx.
A pack of matched lay near her paws. Soon, it would be burning time. But not yet; not yet. And she would never burn her home...

Bluepaw entered silently, one of those rare times I guess; Mister following at her side, matching her every pawstep. She gazed up at the Tall Oak, it's wide branches seemed to scrape the skies. How magnificent this tree was. Maybe she would learn to climb, so she too could scrape the skies.... She sat down, not far from where the she-cat stood. Oh how fidgety she would become, but she could manage...for now.

Ahh.....
Binx completely ignored the apprentice, but instead trotted up beside Juukai and sat down. Well well. It is quite a sight, isn't it, my lady? He smiled charmingly at her, and the giant wooden behemoth before them. He bowed his head, greeting a king of the earth. He could see what she was contemplating. To burn. That's when he took it upon himself to stride up to the great tree, sank a single claw in deep, and tore. Tree sap welled from the cut, and Binx carefully licked it up. Savoring the taste, he said, Your blood is truly that of a king. he sat back and sighed, conscious of Juukai next to him. It was a beautiful day.

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai turned her brilliantly colored eyes to Binx, smiling a slow smile. She had four smiles, Juukai did. She had her full, teeth-showing, insanely joyful 'I-wanna-burn-the-whole-place-down' grin; she had her slow, sweetly sly grin; she had her natrual content grin; and she had her satisfied smirk.
"I have never tasted tree-blood before," she meowed, stepping forward curiously. She duplicated Binx's movements and tasted the sweet sap; with her content grin, she sat back and bowed her head. "What he said," she intonted solemnly, feeling that it was ettiquite to thank the tree, and Binx had put it quite nicely.
She sat silently beside Binx for a short while, savoring the rare beautiful day and the wind and the majesty of the tree. Then the ash-gray she-cat stood and began walking around the tree, her fire-colored eyes seeking something.

Ahh.....
The stranded king cocked his head curiously at Juukai. What are you looking for, my dear? She seemed to be searching intently. For what, he could npt imagine. Binx stepped up and began to walk next to her, still keeping his eyes trained on the pyro, he asked: May I be of assistance to the lovely maiden? Heh. Who says chivalry is dead?

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai turned and bowed, meowing gracefully in Binx style, "Thank you, kind sir, but I believe I have found what I was looking for."
She pawed at the grass, and a massive, crazy-happy grin lit up her face. "A rabbit-hole!" she whooped.
The gray she-cat scurred to fetch her matches. "Can you stand behind me and help me, Binx?" she asked politely, her eyes glinting like fire.
She struck the match in one fluid motion, with skill bourne of practice. She dropped the match above the rabbit hole, and the dry grass caught instantly. A puff of smoke whirled across the hole, then an entire river of smoke.
"Wait...wait..." Juukai crouched, watching the hole intently, her tail twitching. She was not aware that she was talking out loud.
Then-- there! Movement!
One rabbit, its dusty brown-gray sides heaving, scrambled from the hole and dashed away from the flames, its beady eyes crazy. Another followed; "Can you catch one?" she cried hurriedly, lunging for the second.
Her method. How delightful.

Ahh..... Binx watched in total fascination as Juukai found the rabbit hole and smoked the rabbits out. The wide, shining eyes darted in a panic within the little mammal's skull, and it took off like a shot, followed by predatory eyes . The small tuxedo barely heard Juukai's challenge, in his exulted state of the hunter. Of course, he whispered. And then he was gone.
The lord's short legs pumped mightily; he could run with the speed of a thousand cats. Thump, thump, thump. His paws pounded into the grass and dirt. The rabbit's rump was very much in his sights, and he was gaining ground. He could feel the blood, his and his prey's. Suddenly, the rabbit took a sharp turn. Binx turned with it, on a dime. Every muscle in his body bunched and released; he made the final leap in one fluid movement of utter grace. His claws were unsheathed into the rabbit's flesh, and his teeth sank into it's neck. With a quick jerk, the neck was snapped, and blood spilled down his throat. Binx dropped the rabbit and slowly licked his maw. There was wind in the creature's veins.

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai turned, her own dead rabbit at her paws. "Fast food," she grinned, watching Binx with bright fire-colored eyes.
"That's some fancy catchin'," she meowed when Binx had brought the rabbit down. She carried her own toward him and sat.
Suddenly, the grau-furred pyro froze, her brilliant gaze drawn to the flickering flames near the base of the tree. Her expression slackened and vanished, and a massive, crazy, teeth-showing grin replaced it.
"FIRE!!!!!!!" Juukai shouted, darting to the flames. "Fire fire fire!" She ripped out tufts of grass and piled it on, until the flames roared into an inferno, a miniature bonfire; she ran around the bonfire in circles, yowling, "Burn baby burn!"
The firelight etched shadows around Juukai's face, turned her eyes to inflamed mirrors. "Fire! Fire! Flamma! Conflagração! Ildebrand! Houka!"
Then a cold, wet breeze blew in from the west, lightly dampening Juukai's fur and making the fire falter. She seemed to come to her senses, wild delight dancing in her eyes but sane reason in her frown. She kicked dirt over the fire, mourning it as it went out.
Then she bounced back to Binx, flashing her satasfied smile, the singe marks on her face evident. "Shall we dine?" she meowed mock-grandly, picking off where she left off.

Ahh.....
Binx watched wide-eyed at Juukai's frenzied devotion to the burning air. The burning glow reflected in her eyes..... stunning. He continued to gaze, riveted, as she put the fire out. Then, when she came back up, he rushed right up to her, in her face practically. His amber eyes burned intensely, staring straight into her flame-colored orbs. That. Was. Incredible. He had the urge to nuzzle her shoulder. But he remembered propriety, and seemed to snap out of it as she had. Binx backed away a bit, and resumed the normal conversation. I believe we are supposed to take it back to the stronghold before we indulge, he said with his churr.

How delightfully creepy~ I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai raised her head in pride. She flicked Binx earnestly with her tail, meowing proudly, "You'll never meet a cat who's more twoleg-savvy than me!" She smiled at him, her white teeth glinting. "Thanks," she purred.
At Binx's stronghold comment, Juukai started slightly and mewed, "I've been living along too long; you're absolutely right."
She ran off and returned a short time later with three decently-size mice.

Ahh..... Binx returned at the same time as Juukai, carrying a mouse and a vole. He set it down and faced her. I beg your paitence, dear lady. I will return momentarily. He was in top royal form, complete with a flourishing bow. He returned a little bit later, carrying three feathers delicately in his mouth. They were a bright, vibrant orange, darkening to a full red near the shaft. They looked just like tiny flames, sparkling as he set them down. I understand that our dear Queen Lillystar is uncomfortable with your endearing fascination with fire, he said quietly, almost shyly, These aren't as good as the real thing, but maybe they would be a comfort for if you had to go a long while without fire. He nudged them forward. The Mad King had thought these tokens from his missed prey were good imitations, but would the maiden be pleased?

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai's eyes instantly lit upon the feathers, as if they were the only things in the universe. Her fire-colored eyes grew wide and bright. She was exceptionally good with her paws, and she reached forward and flipped the feathers around with perfect accuracy. She managed to grasp one between two singed claws, and held the glittering feather close to her face.
She stared for a long moment, then flicked her gaze to Binx. "Thank you," she breathed, almost reverently. She smiled shyly. "I'll keep it with it with my matches all the time. Queen Lillystar shouldn't have a problem with it."
She headnutted Binx in that endearing way cats had when they were pleased about something. What a wonderful gift-- imitation fire. Something Juukai could appreticate.

Ahh.....
Binx was slightly surprised by her headbutt, but almost ridiculously pleased. He nudged her back, taking delight in her pleasure. He nodded formally, then gave a crazed, toothy grin. Now that that's taken care of, we should take our prey back to camp. His voice grew distant as his own vice began to creep upon him; the smell of rabbit blood was heavy in the air now. We should hurry back to camp, he thought. For he felt a need. The need to feed.

I burn burn like a wicker cabinet chalk white and oh so FRAIL I see our time has gotten stale Juukai looked very closely at Binx for a moment, then gave an equally crazed, teeth-showing grin. "I second that motion," she meowed, her voice full of her usual mad joy. Her fire-colored eyes danced like...well, like fire.
She lifted a few pieces of prey and began to pad toward camp, remembering to grab her three wonderful feathers and her matchbook.
