"This may be the last thing that I write for long; Can you hear me smiling when I sing this song? For you and only you."
She sang to herself, not scaring the prey actually, but drawing it in with her voice. They were interested with the musical beat, the magical rythm. Snakes drew themselves to her tapping and stomping, the song carrying on to the ears of many prey. Rabbits hopped closer, mice stood still with the grain still in their paws, squirrels stopped their chattering for once to listen.
"As I leave will you be someone to say good-bye? As I leave will you be someone to wipe your eye? My foot is out the door and you can't stop me now."
The young she-cat's aqua green eyes flashed with happiness at her aduience.
"You wanted the best; It wasn't me; Will you give it back? Now I'll take the lead; When there's no more room to make it grow. I'll see you again, you'll pretend you're naive. Is this what you want? Is this what you need? How you end up? Let me know."
Cruel it may seem, she lashed out with singing, killing her prey as quickly as possible so it did not suffer, the light dying from it's eyes with her song still in its mind. A rabbit was first to go, but the other animals were not scared, oddly enough.
"As I go remember all the simple things you know; My mind is just a crutch and I still hope; That you will miss me when I'm gone."
A group of mice were next to be felled by her paws, then a rabbit again. She lowered her head to her small pile, eyes soft in thanks. These last words were for them, dismissing them and all the animals to their happier place.
"This is the last song."
