She knew she was toeing a boundary line- literally. She was traveling on the boundary of one of the clans she'd heard so much about. The she-cat wasn't sure she wanted to meet any clans- her experience thus far had not been a good one. Surely the best way to do that was to follow a boundary line. And if the clans were as she'd experienced, she could always tear off into one lands to avoid the other, and keep that up until she'd zig-zagged her way free of them all.
Or maybe the clans were not like she'd experienced, but like she'd heard, and she'd find one that would take her in. She really didn't want to live the solitary life, as used as she was to living with at least one other cat. She'd never been alone in her life for very long. Certainly not this long. It was bewildering and confusing.
Suddenly she stopped, standing there stiff-legged while the scent of a clan brushed over and past her. Yellowflower shivered, dropped into a crouch, and crept along low to the ground. In another ten yards, she'd inadvertently traveled over the boundary line and the smell was only becoming stronger. Confused and scared, she stopped running and let her tail brush the ground as she moved into a fighter's stance that shook almost uncontrollably. This was one conflicted she-cat.

Lillystar meandered around her territory in a melancholy haze. She'd made some new warriors recently and that made her happy, but she'd also witnessed a death at a Gathering and had two of her warriors brought home with near fatal wounds. If the moons before the war brought such turmoil, how bad would the war be?
Sighing heavily, she scented around the river for signs of strangers. All of a sudden, she walked into a she-cat. The stranger was so low to the ground that in the high grass, the forlorn leader hadn't even seen her. Lillystar noticed the crouch that she was in and was prepared to fight, but then she saw how the femme trembled.
"Who are you...and what are you doing here? she asked.

She started up from her crouch as the she-cat nearly ran into her. Surprised, she stood there and watched her for a moment, tail flicking. Then she settled back down, allowing her curiosity to overcome her for a minute. Probably this other was from the clan who's grounds Yellowflower was trespassing on. But she wasn't acting at all like those other cats.
"I'm Yellowflower. I was...traveling through. Are you a clan cat?" she said, fishing around for a short version of what she'd actually been doing- fleeing through on the borders to avoid any clan cats at all. But honestly, this she-cat didn't seem too bad. Yellowflower seemed to have at least calmed down enough that she sat down, and licked the fur on her chest flat a bit self-consciously. She always felt like her fur was sticking out in all directions after she'd been startled like that.

Lillystar relaxed her body and peered at the she-cat.
"Oh...so you were just meandering past my borders?" she asked, raising a brow. "I'm Lillystar, leader of MistClan...this territory..."

Se tilted her head to the side for a moment, considering what she was going to tell this leader. Well, it might be a good idea to just tell her the truth.
"Well, not really. I thought it'd be the best way to avoid a lot of cats. I had a bad experience with another clan," she said. They'd sorely underestimated her abilities to defend herself. She wasn't even sure she felt bad about that one she'd killed. Without realizing it, she shrugged indifferently. That was probably something other cats didn't need to know about.
"They kind of tried to kidnap me," she said by way of explanation.

Lillystar was horrified by this. What Clan in this forest would do such a thing? Then of course, her mind descended on thoughts of BoneClan.
"You didn't happen to catch the names of any of the cats did you?" she asked, wanting to know who she should be watching out for.

Yellowflower shrugged one shoulder in answer to Lillystar's question. She looked back the way she'd come, and twitched her tail.
"They were way back there, sometime near where I first left," she stated. Indeed, they were waaaay back there. And in just the opposite direction of Boneclan- although she didn't know that.
"Before them, I was actually trying to find a clan," she said, looking politely inscrutable. It wasn't a thing she did well, and instead she ended up looking a bit like a doofus. Ah well, it happened. After a second, she gave up and grinned.

Lillystar had hoped that this she-cat would've been able to tell her who had attacked her. It would've helped to keep her own clan safer, but alas, there was nothing she could do.
"So, you wish to join a Clan then?" Lillystar queried. "Did you chance an interest in mine?"

Yellowflower blinked, and a little bit of dust on her long yellow eyelashes distracted her for a moment. Thinking it was something coming for her face, she jumped and skittered to the side for a second. Then she ran a paw over her face, realizing it was just dust, and padded back over to Lillystar.
She grinned, and tilted her head to the side, tail curling and uncurling by her hind leg. Yellow eyes considered the leader for a moment, although it wasn't clear why.
"I chanced an interest in whichever Clan would take me," she replied cheerily, apparently unworried now by the previous clan she'd met. She forgave easily, and forgot easier. It was an easy way to live, not letting anything bother her, really.

I'm allowing Battledream to handle the borders while Lilly's at the gathering. Dun worry, she'll be back.
