[ if i should die within this hour ]
A new land, a new hope, and a new defense.
Doublepaw didn't look at everything this way - or at least, he hoped he didn't, because that'd sound ever so obsessive over war and warriors. As this was his first 'new land', he just allowed any old thought to slip into his mind, just so that he could say he'd actually thought somethng about it.
His light body moved easily over the boundary, and he paused, a light wind attempting to ruffle his white fur, but finding it was much too short and dying out slowly. Double-coloured eyes stared out across the horizon, seeking without purpose, perhaps hoping to find a figure upon which to gaze.
Doublepaw wasn't entirely sure where he was. A few scents crossed his nose - a Clan, he guessed as much - but none were familiar to him, and none we indentifiable. His body was tense, but as he dawned to the realisation that there was currently nobody around, he relaxed and ropped his rump to a sitting position. The words to a song spun in his head, as he swayed gently to the beat to amuse himself.
Oh I do like to be beside the seaside.. oh I do like to be beside the sea..

The small females eyes narrowed a bit as she gazed across the border at the other figure she saw in the grass. Yet another cat had wandered into MistClan territory. Her tail rose a bit to show her friendly greeting as she took in a deep breath of the Spring air and trotted across the fields to meet with the other.
The first thing she noticed about him was, well, that it was a tomcat. But then she noticed his double eyes, and her ears flicked a bit. They were a bit mysterious, but oddly intriguing.
He didn't seem expectant to find a Clan Leader, it seemed. But she wanted to talk to him before a StoneClan Leader did. Maybe she could get another recruit, or at least meet a cat that would become part of another Clan
"Welcome," She meowed as she came within earshot, careful not to surprise him. "I am Whisperstar, the Clan Leader of MistClan, which is the territory from where you stand to the waterfall up North. Is there any particular reason why you came across the territory this afternoon?"

[ if i should die within this hour ]
The tune was cut there, as another cat graced his presence - fair swain! It was a female, and she seemed of great authority. He noted the way she held her body, and the rising of her tail calmed him; he took this as a sign of peace. He allowed a kindly smile to twinkle across his jaws and he rose from his comfortable sitting position , dipping his head, both movements in respect for the lady.
Her words were gentle yet well spoken and he flicked an ear as he listened gracefully to what she had to say. Ah, so he had been right - she was a figure of authority, and a great one at that! Clan leader.. it seemed fortune would not suffer Double today. It took a moment for him to tear away from this thoughtful moment in the reaslisation she had actually directed a question to him; so, raising his gaze to hers and fixing his unmatched eyes with her normal ones, spoke regally in reply.
"No reasons of which I can muster, other than to request a place within your Clan." Again the charming tomcat dipped his head respectfully, after his honyed words - though words not deliberately honeyed, never meaning to suck up, he spoke as he always did - wisely and fairly with a neat tongue.

The light colored female curled her tailtip at the male, examining him curiously. It wasn't every day that she found any cat with such grace, whether he was doing it on purpose or not. Either way, she could never ignore a request to join her Clan, so she dipped her head, her whiskers twitching.
"Then you have asked the right cat, stranger. I would be more than allowing to let you into my Clan. Though I must ask you're name if you don't mind."
She smiled comfortingly and sat slowly on her haunches, wrapping her tail around her paws in a sort of dainty manner. She usually was far from it, but it went far to make sure the new recruits felt at home.

[ if i should die within this hour ]
Kindness radiated from the she-cat before him as she spoke softly, words which his ears greeted with something close to excitement. Of course, he'd been in a Clan before, but there he had been birthed into it.. being accepted into one was something completely different, something new and strange - perhaps something Doublepaw would only experience once in his lifetime.
Double had not raised his head in time enough to catch her curious gaze, and so was not swelled by the idea that he might be an object of interest. In all honesty, Doublepaw was a mysterious tom, and often the mystery about him drove people to have some depth of interest in him. Like a stupid law, the more you didn't want to tell someone something, the more they wanted to know; story of his life, he supposed. Or, it would be. had he not missed that gaze.
The toms white fur ruffled in an extremely light wind, perhaps some sort of relief from the heat of the springtime, and his gaze landed upon the shecat in time to see her sit down comfortably, tail curled about her. He wondered how she could feel so safe in his presence - why, for all she knew, he could be a mass murderer oon a killing spree (that is, a mass murderer with fantastic acting skills). He supposed she was rather lucky he was nothing greater than he seemed.
His brain would have slapped him them, if it could grow arms and hands for such a motion. She had spoken to him and yet he was still dawdling his time thinking about every little thing - analysing the few movements she had made, as if he knew something. And he was still doing it - letting his mind ramble down its own lane of fancy! He parted his jaws, with intent to speak (and nearly didn't when a rustling leaf caught his eye), and finally let his voice be heard again.
"Doublepaw. At your service, fair maiden."

The she-cats leaf green eyes caught the light as she blinked slowly, watching the other with a slightly tilted head. He definately was something new, but as his name had influenced, she guessed lightly that he was Clanborn, whether it be any Clan in here or not.
Despite her relaxed position, Whisperstar was listening and feeling everything. There was no tension in the air besides some nervous and new feelings. She couldn't sense a fear-scent on a cat that would be inexperienced and sent to kill a Clan Leader. She had a perfect relaxed reflection, taught to her by the rivers and pools in which she had grown around her life.
"Doublepaw, then? Perhaps you're demeanor betrays you, but you don't seem like an apprentice to me, whether it be age or experience."
She smiled and watched the mysterious cat, wondering if he had just kept the name. How would she know if he was Warrior material or not? She just couldn't imagine having one of her Warriors mentoring such a noble cat.

[ if i should die within this hour ]
The fair tomcat kept his gaze on the shecat - Whisperstar, as she was now named to him - regaining that respectful aura around him, the sort of aura with which he greeted those he felt worthy of it. She, naturally, was immediately worthy, not only due to her high rank (the highest, should we say), but also due to her fair manners and.. regality? Perhaps just because a leader should speak so, or perhaps it was just her nature, as it was his.
He flicked an ear thoughfully as she spoke again - funny, really, how he felt the need to react to each moment of speech - and his quick mind mustered a reply, luckily this time with little delay. "Well, it's just Double. But my previous Clan has always adapted names to rank." The words felt odd on his tongue, as if he were preaching to a preacher, trying to tell her something she would obviously know; her name was proof enough, it's ending of star showing her high power. Double had been stood quite still for a while now, and he shifted his body weight ever so slightly, giving his muscles the smallest relief, before choosing to speak once more. "I was born a warrior - but in a new land, I must not immediately assume my place will be the same." He said truthfully, his gaze searching hers, wondering what she may think of such a stranger, and what she may hold in store for him.

The light-pelted leaders tail flicked around her paws as she pondered that, her head tilting slightly to one side as she thought about it. True, most cats don't, and wouldn't, come into a Clan as a Warrior. But after the deadly seasons that preceeded this green-leaf, Whisperstar as well as the other Clan Leaders accepted Warriors right away. There wasn't time or enough cats for the newcomers to be 'mentored'.
And as she thought, this tom wasn't the kind Whisperstar could see being mentored in any way. She would just have to make sure she kept an eye on him, just as she did any new cat.
"Your assumption would have been correct if we were still living int he older days... but the recent need for cats amoung the Clans doesn't give us leaders much choice."
She stood up and nodded her head slightly to him.
"And so I will accept you as a MistClan Warrior if that is the place where you were headed in rank."
She gave a smile that beheld a slight touch of trust and comfort.

[ if i should die within this hour ]
His eyes - which were the feature he was so known for - gave away none of what he felt within as he stood under the eye of this stranger; though named, she was still but a stranger to him, and it would be some time for he saw her as anything but. Double was a tom, a cat with manners, morals, but even he sometimes needed an escape, something to hide behind. For him, reality worked in reverse - the thing that most often drew others to him, was the thing which hid anything he wished to hide. His mentor of the past had once said; "If you must hide, hide in plain sight. Cats are often too small minded to look right under their noses."
There - he was doing it again, simply daydreaming! It was lucky that he snapped back to reality in time to hear the words the leader spoke (Whisperstar, he reminded himself) and raised his bodice with pride as she granted him the only rank he had ever been born for. Catching the smile she threw, which beheld such positive emotions, he moved foreward some paces, tail high, in order to stand beside her. His voice grew tired of speaking loudly across the boundary land, and now he spoke softly in her ear. "It is true we no longer live in days past - but I am right in believing that traditions remain, am I not?" Double granted her a kindly smile in return as he completed his speech. "If I am, it is only correct that you chose what my warrior name should be."

The light pelted she-cat opened her muzzle to say something, then closed it and chuckled softly. Of course, she would give this cat his Warrior name. Her eyes looked him over. He seemed one trustworthy enough. Whisperstar hoped that he would be a good asset to the Clan in the near future. His heart seemed pure, and she was interested in the way he acted. Perhaps he knew some fighting moves they didn't use here, and could use to their advantage.
She smiled at an idea, and dipped her head, flicking her against his shoulder in a leader-to-warrior sort of friendship.
"Alright then, Doublepaw. As the leader of MistClan, I call upon StarClan to look down upon you. You have been accepted as a Warrior to MistClan, and I commend you to StarClan as a warrior as well."
She paused, it had been a long time since she said the words, no matter how uncerimonious they were now.
"I now give you the warrior name, and from now on, you will be known as Doubleheart. I welcome you as a warrior into MistClan."
She smiled and rested her muzzle briefly atop his head, and she didn't pass over the fact that she had to stretch to do so.

[ if i should die within this hour ]
Standing there at the side of this she-cat, Double suddenly had a strange feeling - a feeling of belonging. It seemed so very right for him to stand side by side with Whisperstar, as if they were old friends, when really they were just surpassing the 'stranger' stage. An essence of pride crept into him then, and by some strange thought, he knew that this was a Clan he would die for.
Her touch was gentle and he closed his eyes for a moment in thought, before opening them again and facing her to hear her words. She spoke well, like a true leader, and the mention of Star Clan brought another genuine smile to his handsome features, as he looked to the sky momentairily - almost letting Star Clan see his face properly, so they might deem him suitable.
And then it was done - his warrior name rang through the lands as that rpide rushed back to him once more in a feeling of euphoria. Doubleheart, MistClan warrior. It certainly had a ring to it!
He stood still as she placed her petite muzzle upon his head for a moment, perhaps a ceremonial movement he had not before experienced; but all the same, he gave a low, contented purr, and a smile, before speaking softly once more. "I am proud to sign my name to MistClan, Whisperstar. I hope that I can do you justice."

She smiled just as genually as she retreated from him, flicking her tailtip in fulfillment. She saw his trust, and eager to be a part of something so large. She watched him and blinked gratefully, that StarClan, or nature in general, had given her the chance to rebuild MistClan.
The low sound of the waterfall crept to her ears as she sat there, and she raised her lithe head to the stale air and sniffed a bit. Looking back to him, she tilted her head to the side.
"And I hope so too. MistClan Camp is just beyond the field, under a falling waterfall. If you would follow me there, the rest of MistClan should be waiting."
