Didn't it get mentioned earlier that leaders couldn't have kits? That was the reason why Bluestar gave up Mistyfur and Stonepelt, (Did I get their names right?) wasn't it? But then, how come Firestar could have kits?

I thought it was because Oakheart was from RiverClan, and in order for Bluestar to become deputy she would have to be a shining example, so couldn't have relationships with cats from other clans. Maybe deputies weren't allowed kits? :/ Or she'd have to choose between being deputy or having a relationship with Oakheart.

It kinda confused me too. I shall ahve to read the book again x3

I think it was that Fireheart's a tom and wouldn't have to take care of the kits where as Bluestar would of had to spend time in the nursery to take care of her kits but it could of been example too like Bane said.

Yes, Icekit got it right :3
If toms are Clan Leaders, they can have kits and still take care of the Clan and everything. I believe Fireheart (at the time) asked Bluestar why she couldnt have kits, and she explained that being in the nursery and such would take precious amounts of time away from being Clan Leader. You can't really organize patrols and go into fights when your nursing lol XD

I guess the only reason I know that is because Ive read almost all the books 5 or 6 times over ;D It really helps to understand them.

They can have kits. Bluestar gave hers up because she wanted to /become/ leader, and she couldnt be deputy if she was a queen, with kits still. Med cats cant have kits... *pets poor Silverthroat*
