(Random, because I'm waiting for another person to post at my clan's main camp ;D)
Well, since most of us have thoroughly read one or more of the Warriors books, I'm going to lay down some books with the similar theme of "talking animals". Because I love them. <3 Add any that I don't have--I love hearing about new ones!
Watership Down by Richard Adams:
Very classic novel, and my favorite book of all time! This book creates a wonderful culture and language for European rabbits. I definitely reccomend this one!
The Sight & Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies:
Most of you here have probably heard of these two. They closely follow Watership Down in format (especially Fire Bringer), but detail on wolves and red deer. I prefer Fire Bringer out of the two, since The Sight was rather lengthy and rambling, but I own and love both.
The Wild Road (and it's sequel which I haven't read, The Golden Cat) by Gabriel King:
Both Whisperstar and I adore this book. It focuses on Cats, like Warriors, but I think it goes much deeper. Some complain about the writing style, but I loved it. The physical appearence of my RP character, Trillium, was highly inspired by how I visioned one of the characters from this novel.
Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams:
This one's also about cats. Some people on Amazon said that if you liked the Wild Road, Tailchaser was much better, but...I just didn't like this book. MANY people have, though, so maybe I'm just weird. This book goes more into the mythology aspect of the cat world, which I found interesting.
KID'S BOOKS, OMG.
Bambi by Felix Salten:
Actually...I don't think I'd classify this as a 'kids book', but whatever. :3 I simply adore this book. It's VERY different from Disney's version...a lot 'deeper', too. Focuses on roe deer, instead of whitetail deer. Definitely reccomend.
The Guardians of Ga'Hoole series by Kathryn Lasky:
Er...this series has got to be my guilty pleasure of the book world. They're written for fifth graders, yet I own every one of 'em. All nine of 'em. That's bad. But they're so...CUTE, dangit. This series focuses on the many owls in the bird world, and in book 8, fictionally created dire wolves.
Wow. That was long. o.O I guess you shouldn't let me ramble about books.
Add ones that I don't know about so I can read 'em!
Bane Added:
Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver:
A book that follows a boy named Torak, from Wolf Clan, through the forest on a quest to fight the bear that lurks and to find the evil beings that torment the forest Clans.
Jet Added:
The Redwall series by Brian Jaques:
These are some very interesting books. They are a bit more anthropomorphized than the above books, but they're still very good. I reccomend reading the earlier novels first, as they're the best of the lot.
