She put on a smile as she watched him drive away.
But inside she was screaming because she wanted him to stay.
They had made plans for the future that someday they may…
be together always and forever he would stay.
She never thought he’d leave her
He never thought he’d stay
But now both hearts are broken as the taxi pulled away.
Sometimes she sees him waiting across the street or down the way.
So she looks over and sees him fade away
She knows that she has lost him
She knows she’s gone away
But still she wishes that he had stayed.
She gets a letter from him
Saying to meet him
At the corner of 31st street and Maple today
At 3 am. She was there waiting in the cold
She had done just what she was told
She waited there 4 hours and decided he forgot
But still she held on to him deep inside her heart
Although she knew he was gone and he wasn’t coming back
She had thought he was all she lacked.
He let her down on that cold winter night
And she knew he would never be there for her
She had to let him go
