He remembered when he was a kit, it had snowed once. He and Chainless had played and played while their mother went out hunting.
The only taint to the memory was that Heartless had returned, her pelt stained with the blood of another feline she had slaughtered and eaten.
But now was not the time to think of such matter – the memory had reminded the black and white tom of his sister – he was proud she had be ranked as medicine cat, but her words that fateful day she had came here and drawn him away from the others to tell him were haunting.
Their mother still lived, and she had another litter. If any of that one lived still was anyone’s guess, but he would never wish any harm on his half-siblings. Although, now, she could have had another.
Ah, but again, now was not the time.
Loveless grinned, yellow hues reflecting the pent-up energy that burned within.
“Wanna race to the ‘rabbit rock’?”
